Reaction Paper

The video presentation is about the concept, ideas, and terms which is also related to logic.
While reasoning or inference is the subject of matter of logic, other operations of the mind must be taken
into account. Reasoning involves judgment which is the act of affirming or denying ideas. Similarly,
inference as a language of expression of reasoning is composed of a proposition which in turn involves
terms. Our study of logic will follow the natural division in terms of the operation of the intellect
corresponding to their language expression.

It is stated from the video that the "term" is an idea that is expressed in words either spoken or
written and the "idea" is a mental representation of something. This puts much interest in me to study
more of this because I believe that the concept is more on the same to the subject-verb agreement. I have
a feeling that the ideas and terms are correlated to one another. One cannot talk of ideas without using
terms and there are no terms that did not exist first in the mind in the forms of ideas. From the simple
word "term" there are such classifications included. These are the singular, collective, particular, and
universal terms. I am so grateful that those are easy to understand because of such patterns. To sum it all,
the formation of the ideas in the mind consists of different stages. Through simple appreciation, the
intellect gets the meaning or the nature of objects and produces an image in the mind which is called an
idea. From the second thought that was presented, the judgments and propositions were revealed. From
my stock knowledge about judgment and proposition, there are actual processes that transpire in the mind
to be able to outline it. First is the mind has ideas or concept of things, next is those ideas are verbally
expressed through the use of terms, third is the mind sees certain relationships existing between ideas and
terms, fourth is the mind asserts the relation of affirming, or denying of these ideas of terms and lastly, we
communicate the assertions through language, hence using propositions. From the video, I learned about
the judgment which is a mental operation by which the mind affirms or denies anything whatsoever.
Propositional refers to a declarative sentence that expresses a relation of affirmation or denial between
terms. I learned that a proposition, being a declarative sentence expresses either truth r falsity. A
proposition is true if our assertion coincides with reality and false if it does not coincide with reality.
From my point of view, this topic is very meaningful to me because it is so applicable in most situations.
The two fundamental divisions of a proposition were rises which are the categorical and hypothetical
propositions. The categorical proposition is a kind of proposition in which the predicate is either
affirmative or denied of a subject that consists of four parts. These are the
quantifier+subject+copula+predicate. Every categorical proposition has the properties of quantity and
quality. A hypothetical proposition is a compound-complex proposition between the parts of which there
exists a relation of dependence, opposition, or similarity. It has three kinds namely conditional,
disjunctive, and conjunctive.

The concept ideas and terms are very significant in our times especially in the study, work, and
everyday living. The reasoning is what the topic wants to infer to us because logically speaking, our mind
composing ideas and transferring to a language of expression and we need this to some specific situations.
Through the association of ideas, our mind asserts whether one idea is affirmed or denied of another.
When we try to communicate this to others, we express it employing a proposition.
