- Effectively revokes/repeals the Republic Act 6506 that created the Board of
Examiners for Criminologists in the country.
- This law created the Professional Regulatory Board for Criminologists, a collegial
body under the Administrative Supervision of Professional Regulation
Commission unlike the Republic Act 6506 which was mandated by the
Commission on Appointments.
- Section 15. Subjects for Licensure Examination.— The licensure examination for
criminologists shall include, but shall not be limited to, the following:

(a) Criminal Jurisprudence and Procedure:
Criminal Law (Book I); Criminal Law (Book II); Related Special Penal Laws;
Criminal Procedure;
Evidence;
Court Testimony 20%
(b) Law Enforcement Administration:
Police Organization and Administration, Police Planning;
Police Patrol Operations, Police Communication System;
Police Intelligence;
Police Personnel and Records Management; Comparative Police Systems;
Fast forward to the early 1960’s, the criminology program started to be offered
by universities such as University of Manila, University of Visayas in Cebu City,
University of Mindanao in Davao City, and the University of Baguio. When the
R.A. 6506 was approved in 1972, many schools, colleges and universities opted
to offer B.S. Criminology Program.
Criminology education in the country has come a long way since the year it was
founded, and it will still continue to develop for years to come.
