Gardabani Municipality
Gardabani (Georgian: გარდაბნის მუნიციპალიტეტი,
Gardabnis Municiṕaliťeťi) is a municipality in Georgia, in the Gardabani Municipality
region of Kvemo Kartli. Its main town is Gardabani. გარდაბნის მუნიციპალიტეტი

Until 1917, the actual municipality was under the Tbilisi Uyezd. Country Georgia
In 1921, with the administrative division of the Georgian SSR,
Mkhare Kvemo Kartli
the municipality was in the Tbilisi Uyezd but in 1938, the
municipality was separated from the Tbilisi Oblast to form the Area
Karaya Rayon. In 1947, the name changed for Gardabani • Total 1,304.1 km2
Rayon. (503.5 sq mi)

Demographics • Total 81,876[1]

According to the Georgian census of 2002, 53,2% of the zone
population is Georgian, 43,72% is Azerbaijani, 0,93% is
Armenian, the remaining is composed of Russians, Ossetians and Greeks.

Economy
In 2012, there was 42 populated areas, including one city
(Gardabani), 2 "daba" and 39 villages. The urban population was
16200, and in villages was 83500, so 85% lived in villages. The
municipality's incomes comes from : Industry (mostly electricity),
construction, services, agriculture and public services. The priority for
the municipality is the development of agriculture and industry.
