Greetings!

With the goal to advance human rights, justice and volunteerism among the Filipino youth,
the Samahan ng Kabataang Boluntaryo ng Pilipinas (SKBP) presents the first MAKA-TAO:
Youth Volunteer Summit. It is a two-day event that will be held this July 26 to 27, 2020
(Sunday to Monday) from 02:00 PM to 05:00 PM via Zoom.
SKBP continuously creates a platform for the youth to expand their network, build their
competencies, and create a transformative impact while having a deeper understanding about
the following issues: Makakalikasan (Environment and Sustainability), Makabayan
(Patriotism and Civic Engagement), Maka-Diyos (Religion and Peace) and Maka-tao (Human
Rights and Justice). This time, through the MAKA-TAO: YVS, SKBP aims to:
(1) To increase the awareness of the youth about the status of human rights in the
Philippines, its importance and the ways they can do to champion it;
(2) To educate the youth about the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable
Development Goals (UN SDGs) particularly the SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong
Institutions;
(3) To encourage the youth to be involved in the causes of vulnerable sectors such as the
indigenous peoples, the women and children, the urban poor and the LGBTQ through
volunteering;
(4) To solidify the Filipino youth’s sense of commitment and unity to collectively act for
the UN SDGs and human rights;
(5) To strengthen partnerships among youth leaders and youth organizations working
toward the UN SDGs and human rights;

the topic on “One Human Family: Embracing Dignity, Tolerance and Diversity.” The
event will also be publicly streamed on Facebook.
