II
1.1 Positioning
The ZXSDR B8200 TL200 is a multi-band multi-mode baseband unit, supporting GSM,
UMTS, and LTE. With software configuration and a few hardware modifications, the
ZXSDR B8200 TL200 can act as a GERAN base station, a UTRAN base station, an LTE
base station, or a GUL multi-mode base station.
The ZXSDR B8200 TL200 is based on ZTE’s unified SDR platform, and uses independent
baseband and RF architecture, satisfying the long-term low-cost requirements of
operators.
For an external view of the ZXSDR B8200 TL200, see Figure 1-1.
1-1
1.2 Features
The features of the ZXSDR B8200 TL200 are as follows:
l Large capacity
The ZXSDR B8200 TL200 supports multiple configurations. One BPN2 supports six
8-antenna/4-antenna,twelve 2-antenna 20 MHz cells.
l Mature technologies and stable performance
The ZXSDR B8200 TL200 uses the SDR platform, which, with mature technology and
stable performance, is applicable to the large-scale commercial projects of the CDMA,
GSM, UMTS, TD-SCDMA, and LTE systems.
l Supporting multi-mode base stations and smooth evolution
The ZXSDR B8200 TL200 supports multiple technical standards including GSM,
UMTS, CDMA, WiMAX, TD-SCDMA, LTE, and A-XGP, satisfying the flexible network
architecture and smooth evolution requirements of operators.
l Compact design and easy deployment
The ZXSDR B8200 TL200 is based on a standard MicroTCA platform, and is
small in size. With a depth of 197 mm, the ZXSDR B8200 TL200 can be installed
independently or mounted on the wall, saving room space and operation costs.
l All-IP architecture
The ZXSDR B8200 TL200 uses IP switching and provides external GE/FE interfaces,
meeting network architecture requirements in various situations.

3-1
3-2
l Daisy-chain network architecture: multiple RRUs are connected to a daisy chain, and
then connected to a BBU, see Figure 4-2. In this way, less transmission resources
are used, but the reliability is lower than that of star network architecture. Daisy-chain
4-1
network architecture applies to service areas where the subscribers are distributed in
a belt and the subscriber density is low.
Remote Maintenance
The EMS connects to and maintains BBUs through transmission networks, for example,
IP transmission networks, see Figure 4-3. One EMS can maintain multiple base stations
at the same time.
Local Maintenance
Local maintenance (LMT): an LMT running on a PC directly connects to and maintains the
BBU through an Ethernet cable, see Figure 4-4. The LMT is used for maintaining a single
base station.
4-2
For a description of the physical interfaces of the ZXSDR B8200 TL200, refer to Table 5-1.
5-1
S1-C Interfaces
Figure 5-2 shows the S1-C interface protocol architecture.
5-2
Based on IP, the S1-C interface transmits signaling messages at the radio network layer
reliably.
The S1-C interface uses the Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) at the layer
higher than the IP layer. SCTP inherits advantages of TCP. In addition, SCTP makes an
improvement in transmission reliability and security. The multi-stream property ensures
redundancy protection of the transmission-layer links. In addition, the design of SCTP
includes the resistance to attacks and the supporting of multihoming.
S1-U Interfaces
Figure 5-3 shows the S1-U interface protocol architecture.
5-3
The S1-U interface protocol architecture is based on the GTP-U/UDP/IP protocol stack.
One of the advantages of the GTP-U protocol stack is that it is convenient to use the
internal tunnel identifier of the protocol. The transmission layer is identified with the GTP
tunnel end and IP address.
5.2.2 X2 Interfaces
An X2 interface is used to connect eNodeBs. The X2 interface supports the following
functions:
l Mobility management of the UE that is in connected state in the LTE system
à Context transmission between the source eNodeB and destination eNodeB
à User plane tunnel control between the source eNodeB and destination eNodeB
à Handover cancelled
l Load management
l Inter-cell interference coordination
l X2 interface management and error processing
l Tracing
X2 interfaces include X2-C interfaces and X2-U interfaces. X2-C interfaces are
control-plane interfaces connecting eNodeBs. X2-U interfaces are user-plane interfaces
connecting eNodeBs.
Figure 5-4 shows the X2-U interface protocol architecture.

5-6
System Availability
The system availability is not less than 99.999%.
System Maintenance
The system maintenance time, MTTR, is not more than 0.5 hour (the maintenance is
module class and board class).
l Provides anti-static measures, facilitating electrostatic discharge easy for operators.
l Supports online maintenance: The large-scale system maintenance can be performed
when the system is powered on.
l Supports hot swap: Boards inserted in the shelf are hot-pluggable.
l Supports background reset: The system supports power-off reset initiated on the
background. The specified board can be reset in case of power failure.
l Hardware module maintenance non-interference requirements: Other modules are
not changed if the damaged module is maintained or replaced.
l Supports "screw on all screws with one screwdriver": Screws are in the unified
specifications, ensuring "screw on all screws with one screwdriver".
6-1
Error-proof Design
l Structure error-proof design: The physical structure of the shelf does not allow
boards to be inserted in reserve. The shelf structure ensures that the boards that are
installed are not mixed, avoiding the boards being incorrectly inserted or in reverse.
Components on the board are arranged in the same direction with location labels
and covers.
l Electric error-proofing design: The power input ports are designed with reverse
connection protection, which is implemented by the power module. The
power-on/power-off procedure of each module is designed in accordance with
MicroTCA standards. The power-on management system ensures that the power
of the relevant boards will not be switched on if boards in the CC and FS slots are
plugged or unplugged improperly, protecting boards from damage.
Maintainability
The software or other components that need to be updated can be downloaded remotely.
All alarm information can be reported to the network management system through
the operation and maintenance channel. You can perform operating state query, fault
diagnosis, isolation, and other operations on the network management system.
