exponentially. (This is the maximum bandwidth of the RF modules. Please take the
actual module as standard.)
High PA efficiency, low power consumption
The PA achieves very high efficiency with ZTE's patent Doherty, Digital PreDistortion
(DPD) and Dynamic Power Trace (D-PT) technologies. The PA power supply voltage
is dynamically adapted to the output power, reducing the power consumption of RUs.
The base station power consumption is greatly decreased with several other key
energy-saving features
Adaptable to tough environments
The outdoor macro BTS BS8900B adopts a hermetic rack. It is water proof, dust
proof, EMC compatible to suit the outdoor application scenarios. The BS8900B
provides IP55 protection capability, –40°C to 55°C operating temperature, and C-
class lightning protection. The BS8900B can provide a fast-deployment, low-cost and
reserved equipment's storage space solution in tough environments.
BBU
The BBU is a baseband processing unit. It implements the baseband processing
functions (such as encoding, multiplexing, modulation, and spread spectrum),
enables the interface to the Node B, processes signaling, provides local and remote
operation and maintenance functions, monitors the operating status of the Node B
system, and reports alarm information. Each module within the BBU provides the
following functions:
→ CC: provides clock signals for the system, and external maintenance interfaces
for managing other boards.
→ FS/BP/BPL: process physical layer protocols with the CPRI interface to the RRU.
→ SA and SE: provide dry contact interfaces and E1/T1 interfaces.
RRU
It completes RF processing, quadrature modulation and demodulation, radio
measurement and reporting, carrier power control, receive diversity, calibration, and
synchronization.
The functions of the RSU and the RRU are similar. The RSU can only be installed
in a cabinet. The RRU can be used independently, and can be installed on an iron
tower or remotely.
RF Cabinet RC8910B
Figure2-2 shows the hardware architecture of the RC8910B cabinet containing seven
RSU modules. The width of the each RSU panel is 88 mm.
9. RSU
The PC8910A cabinet is an outdoor battery cabinet containing two sets of batteries.
The capacity of each set is 150 AH. Figure2-5 shows the hardware components in the
PC8910A cabinet.
1. Battery
The PC8910B cabinet is an outdoor battery cabinet containing four sets of batteries. The
capacity of each set is 135 AH (GEL batteries) or 150 AH (AGM batteries). Figure2-6
shows the hardware components in the PC8910B cabinet.
1. Battery
The hardware platform operates on the Linux operating system. The Board Support
Package (BSP) is a suite of software closely related to the board hardware and supports
the RealTime Operating System (RTOS) to operate on boards. The operating support
layer provides the following functions:
Operation Support Subsystem (OSS): support layer in the entire software framework.
It provides a hardware-independent software operation platform, including
scheduling, timers, memory management, inter-module communication, sequencing
control, monitoring, alarming, and log functions.
Operation And Maintenance (OAM): provides the configuration, alarm, and
performance measurement functions.
Data Base Sub-system (DBS): provides system data storage and management.
Barrier Sub-system (BRS): processes the protocol stack.
Barrier Access Control Sub-system (BRACS): controls access to the bearer layer.
System Control Sub-system (SCS): controls power supply and active/standby
handover.
→ GPRS/EDGE data service, achieving 59.2 Kbit/s per time slot at the radio
interface
→ EDGE evolution
UMTS services:
→ UMTS R99 service, HSPA (DL 14.4Mbps/UL 5.76Mbps), HSPA+ (DL 168Mbps/
UL 23Mbps)
→ MBMS service, including broadcast and multicast functions (PtP & PtM)
→ Supports 64QAM, MIMO, DC/4C and their diverse combinations in downlink
→ Supports 16QAM, 16QAM + DC, A-RAKE technology, interference cancellation in
uplink
→ Advanced energy-saving features, for example, dynamic power sharing and
intelligent cell shutdown
→ Several measures to extend the cell range up to 240 km
LTE Services:
→ Supports the configuration of 1.4 MHz/3 MHz/5 MHz/10 MHz/15 MHz/20 MHz
bandwidth
→ Supports 2T2R/2T4R/4T4R
→ Supports uplink 64QAM modulation and downlink 256QAM modulation
→ Supports discontinuous transmission (DTX)
→ Supports dynamic PA bias voltage adjustment
→ Supports eMTC
→ Supports CoMP
GSM/UMTS/LTE Uni-RAN services:
→ GSM/UMTSBBU cascading
→ GSM/UMTS dynamic power sharing
→ GSM/UMTS/LTEIP common transmission
→ Intelligent carrier power on/off
→ Supports basic interworking between G/U and LTE networks
NB-IoT services:
→ Supports standalone deployment with other RAT
→ Supports guard-band deployment with LTE
→ Supports in-band deployment in LTE
→ Supports data transmission in Control Plane (CP) mode
Note
The NetNumen U31 system is ZTE' s self-developed unified EMS. It manages
various connected radio NEs in a centralized manner, and provides standard
interfaces for the upper network management system. One NetNumen U31 system
can maintain multiple base stations.
The NetNumen U31 system provides functions including configuration management,
topology management, fault management, performance management, security
management, system management, and task management. It also provides a
command line tool, GUI, and maintenance tool.
Note
The LMT is applied in the following cases: on-site commissioning and debugging,
site visit in case of a disconnected transmission link, and site visit for troubleshooting
problems.
