Scene 15
Open on a smash cut of a back of a truck opening, hold onto shot
the shot as an unnamed character gets onto the back of the truck
to offload supplies.
Cut to DAVE as he gets out of the cabin of the lorry. DAVE walks
to the back of the lorry to help offload supplies. MICHEAL does
the same.
MICHEAL: “The fuck happened here?”
DAVE: “Do you not listen to anything at all?”
MICHEAL shrugs and gets passed a crate of supplies.
DAVE looks around him to see the decimated town, smoke rising in
the distance and destroyed houses. Furniture overturned, burnt,
empty and lying in the path that goes through the town. A small
church down the path still smoldering from fires that were strewn
throughout the town. Go back to DAVE’s face to show his shocked
reaction.
MICHEAL approaches DAVE from behind, nudging him with his elbow.
MICHEAL: “Come on, we ain’t gonna do all this ourselves”
Cut back to the lorry and show unnamed characters offloading
supplies.
DAVE: “Yeah, sorry”
DAVE adjusts his grip on the crate of supplies and walks towards
the centre of the town.
 Cut to an OLD WOMAN who lives in the town. She looks concerned
and in need of some help.
DAVE is walking past with his crate and the woman grabs his arm
OLD WOMAN (In Croatian): “please help me, I've lost my
granddaughter”
DAVE looks at her, not understanding what she just said.
DAVE: “Henry!”
DAVE calls for the translator, HENRY, while making eye contact
with the OLD WOMAN.
HENRY: “What’s up?”
HENRY says while coming over to DAVE and OLD WOMAN.
HENRY (in Croatian): “Are you okay?”
OLD WOMAN (in Croatian): “No, I've lost my granddaughter, have
you seen her?”
OLD WOMAN turns to her purse and pulls out a picture. Both HENRY
and DAVE look at each other, both concerned.
The OLD WOMAN shows the picture to DAVE and HENRY. DAVE looks
back at her with sorrow on his face.
HENRY (in Croatian): “I’m sorry, we’ve only just gotten here, we
haven’t seen your granddaughter, we can keep an eye out for her
though”
HENRY smiles at OLD WOMAN
OLD WOMAN smiles back
Smash cut to a crate hitting the ground, lift to DAVE and HENRY
talking to a MAN
MAN (in poor English): “Thank you for all of your help”
HENRY: “It’s okay, I just hope you guys can rebuild”
HENRY points to the town
MAN (in poor English): “Me too, I think we can get by”
DAVE and HENRY are called away to their trucks.
MAN and OLD WOMAN (separated) wave to DAVE as he opens the door
to the truck and hops in
DAVE turns to his PASSENGER
DAVE: “*sighs* That was pretty shit”
PASSENGER: “yeah”
PASSENGER’s eyes are focused on the road.
DAVE looks judgmental at them.
