Animal feed should be in excellent condition to ensure its

hygiene and nutritional value. Animal feedstuff should be keep free


from harmful bacteria during their storage and to ensure safe feed until it
is consumed by the animal.
Propionic acid in its salt form is a feed preservative, protects the raw materials
for animal nutrition and compound feeds from the proliferation of moulds,
yeasts and bacteria, prevents the mycotoxin production, inhibits the fermenta-
tion and consequently caking and the loss of nutritive substances with posi-
tive effects on animal productivity.

The presence of Salmonella, their economic and health risk needs thor-
ough hygiene management throughout the entire chain from feeding to
meat processing. Certain organic acids especially Formic acid in well
proportioned and reacted combinations are widely recognised to have
synergistic action as antimicrobial.
This blend of organic acids works in synergy to prevent mould and
bacteria development in feed and raw materials.
