 Introdution

Community tourism is a source of growth and development for communities.

Thanks to this, the most vulnerable communities have the opportunity to reduce
poverty and create new jobs for their inhabitants.

In our country, one of the main sources of income is tourism, so it is important

that we take care of it and also collaborate in its development. This island has
many destinations waiting to be discovered.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, which is going through the world, people are
traveling, that is why tourism in our country must continue to develop and
innovate in new tourism projects that favor our communities most in need.

Below we will present this research where you will find information such as:
what are the behavior characteristics of tourists, according to the UNWTO, we
will also mention what are the benefits of sustainable tourism in the Dominican
Republic, among other information.
 Community and sustainable tourism

In the Dominican Republic there are two types of tourism investment that play
important roles in the communities and in sustainable development. There is
private investment, which is the one on innovative projects such as agrotourism,
the tour of the Rizek family's cocoa route, the chocolate route of the cooperative
of cocoa block number three in Hato Mayor-El Seibo, among others. routes.
Also community experiences as the origin of the Americas. La Isabela, Luperón,
typical merengue experiences, among others that there are quite a few. And
there is community investment, which is what carries out projects to benefit the
development of local interest groups, helping to improve the quality of life of the
communities.
Sustainable tourism benefits
 Poverty reduction.
 Reduction of unemployment.
 Stimulation of economic growth.
 Protection of the environment through alliances.
 Good use of natural resources.
 Change in the tourism development model adapted to the vision of the future.
 Other interesting places in the Dominican Republic are shown.
 There is a positive exchange of cultural experiences.

The natural national parks that have beaches offer the possibility of ecotourism
and beach tourism in the same place since they can enjoy the sun and the sea,
but they can also explore forests, caverns, waterfalls and other types of
landscapes different from the beach. Also some of the things that I agree with
Mrs. Milka Hernandez who was giving a talk on sustainable and community
tourism which expressed that an artisan cheese from the Dominican Republic
better known as (Leaf cheese) which is becoming very popular for foreigners
that has already been made known in different countries not only by
Dominicans but also by many visitors who have been delighted with this
product.
This will greatly help community tourism in its growth, the economy of these
communities and the gastronomy at the national level. This option falls within
the existing ones such as gastronomic, golf, real estate or real estate tourism,
historical, among others, they complement each other and offer unforgettable
experiences to visitors.

Conclusion
Something that has influenced today's tourists is Covid-19 precisely this year
which has caused collapses and many changes in tourism today.After this
isolation, we live for a few months, and perhaps a few years, a social distancing
that will keep us at a certain distance, even from our friends, family and busy
activities. Many of our customs will recover in the short and medium term,
however, others will change forever or at least for a few years.
Tourist activity is one of the most affected by this crisis, it will take two or 3
years to return to previous tourist levels. Many analysts predict that corporate
tourism will recover the best and first, but not group tourism and cruise ships,
precisely because of that social distancing that will accompany us for a while.
Tourists will gradually return to travel and even after months they are returning,
but now they will be more demanding with sanitation and food safety.
