Special Olympics World Summer Games Athens 2011

The U.S. Special Olympic Team will be staying on Rhodes from


June 20 – 23 as part of the Host Town Program. There they will
have the chance to get to know Greece for a while and practice
before the beginning of the Games. They will practice in the
mornings and take in some of the wonderful sites of Rhodes in the
afternoons. The team will be staying at the Rodos Palace Hotel
Resort near RhodesTown, on the beach.

A representative from the U.S. Embassy will also be on hand at the

Rhodes is a beautiful and large island in the


Dodecanese islands of the Aegean. It has an
ancient and rich history and was known as a
center of learning in antiquity.

The Rhodes Town is


the most popular tourist
destination. There are also
many ruins to see in Lindos.

Rodos Palace Hotel is located

Old Town, on the beach. It has
beach access, several restaurants

Banks - There are many banks that operate on Rhodes, most of which have
ATMs. Be sure that no one sees your PIN when using an ATM. If you need
to go into the bank they are normally open Monday to Friday, 8 am to 2 pm.

Taxis – If you need to take a taxi while on Rhodes, you can ask the hotel to call
one for you, or you can call a taxi at 224 106 4712.
