ACTIONS OVER WORDS

Aireyca Glenn G. Lanaban BSA 3

Words today are meaningless when our actions contradict them. As they say,
“Action speaks louder than words.” Mostly, people lost their trust because of past
experiences. Broken promises, flowering words without action or hopeless
commitments.

Today’s gospel reading from Matthew 21:28-32 is all about action over words.
Words do not mean anything when they are not accompanied by actions. Worse, our
words lose their value when we do not do it. Nobody will believe our words anymore.

My first realization in today’s good news is about walking the talk. That means,
being responsible to the words we say. Words are reassuring but it’s the action that
counts. Saying yes comes with a responsibility since you give a hope to that person.
That’s why don’t say yes when your action shows the opposite. Sometimes, I easily say
yes without thinking if I can do it. That’s why, I’ll change that attitude.

Another realization I have is about change. Jesus gives us a choice to decide.

Whether to follow Him or do the other thing. This is a reminder for myself because I
know that I also failed being His daughter. Sometimes, I choose my studies over Him. I
spent more time in my gadget that I forgot to pray when I sleep. I am reminded that He
looks what’s inside rather than the words we utter. “The Father expects us to work in the
vineyard.” That means, saying yes isn’t enough but He wants us to prove to Him that we
are doing something that can make Him happy. In other words, we may make mistakes
from the past but it doesn’t define us because everyone has the chance to change.
There is still a chance to go back to our Creator.

This day isn’t an ordinary day. Despite everything that happen these past few
days. He reminded me of today’s gospel to keep my faith ignited and I’m very thankful
and blessed. The road may be difficult but I am certain that He will never leave my side.
Other people may not understand our situation but continue doing what is good. With
that, He will be happy. It’s the deed that counts not the words we say.

To sum it up, in everything we do, do not do it for ourselves but for God and
surely He will be glad.
