LYRICS

I
She was a mother and a father too
‘Cause Daddy departed when I was but two
So she made her name by her industry
And labor of love was her history
I remember her saying this piece
CHORUS
“Carry on, carry on
Don’t give up, trust in God
And you’ll see the handsome plan
He readied for you and me
Just carry on”
II
I remember the day I lost that game
And when I received a not well-suited grade
Same when the dream job never really came
I thought ‘sorry future’ would be my name
I remember her saying this piece
REPEAT CHORUS
III
Doctor had called me to go in her room
She was asking for me and my little croon
A kiss to her grandchild seemed to make her strong
Then she said, “I had a good life all along.”
I remember her whisper this piece
REPEAT CHORUS except last line
Before she took long needed sleep
I kissed her and whispered this piece
CHORUS 2
“I’ll carry on, I’ll carry on
I won’t give up, I will trust in God
‘Cause I’ve seen the handsome plan He has paved way for me
I have you as my Mom
And I thank God you’re my Mom”
SONG STORY
Born of the musical collaboration of three composers Nonie Ramos, P.A. Atienza and Nino Cristobal,
“Carry On” is ASOP’s best praise song for the month of January.
With its international appeal and touching narrative of a son reminiscing on his parent’s teachings,
“Carry On”, speaks to the heart. Inspired to work together, the three composers reworked the song’s
melodies and lyrics including changing the original title of the song from “A Handsome Plan For Me”
to “Carry On”.
Interpreter Pinoy cover artist Sam Mangubat is set to deliver a heartfelt acoustic take of the inspiring
hymn.
