“Colonial literature” is most easily defined as literature written during a time

of colonization, usually from the point of view of colonizers. ... Though Conrad's novel
is critical of the ivory trade, his focus is on the emotional and psychological
effects colonization has on the colonizers themselves

Colonialism-
Colonialism is the policy of a country seeking to extend or retain its authority over other people or
territories, generally with the aim of economic dominance. In the process of colonisation, colonisers
may impose their religion, language, economics, and other cultural practices on indigenous peoples.

Literature-
Literature broadly is any collection of written work, but it is also used more narrowly for writings
specifically considered to be an art form, especially prose fiction, drama, and poetry. In recent
centuries, the definition has expanded to include oral literature, much of which has been transcribed.
