Reaction Paper

Last September 14. 2020, Euractiv posted an article regarding the rising cases of anti-Semitism
in Europe. In the article it was said that European countries need to take action on anti-Semitism
as it has grown higher due to the effects of Covid-19. They were advised to stop these cases as it
risks losing the Jewish community. 75 years have passed since the Jews have been set free from
the extermination camps made in World War II, and ever since then it has been the goal of the
European Union to remove anti-Semitism. Unfortunately, as the Covid cases rises, so does the
number of anti-Semites who blame the Jews in profiteering from it.

This news is very alarming not just for me but to everyone else as well. The Jews have been
very unfortunate all through out their history. They were always viewed as corrupt and power-
hungry, they were blamed for the death of Jesus, and they faced so many persecutions. Anti-
Semitism is a great example to show why religion could be a curse, as the Jews have been
discriminated since the Romans and are still being dicriminated today. I am afraid for the future
of the Jewish people, and I am enraged by the growing hatred among them as it could cause
greater discrimination or worse, another mass genocide.
