Evolution in Fact and Fantasy

First we will see EVOLUTION ACCORDING TO MODERN SCIENCE (its shortcomings and why it is
‘Evolution in fantasy’):

Darwin’s Concept of Evolution:

Darwin tried to show how the origin of living species could be fully explained by the purely mechanical,
unplanned action of natural forces. By the process he called “natural selection,” all the higher, complex
forms of life gradually evolved from more primitive and rudimentary ones. In a given animal population, for
example, some individuals will have traits that make them adapt better to their environment; these more fit
individuals will survive to pass on their favorable traits to their offspring. The unfit will gradually be weeded
out naturally. Thus a cold climate will favor those who have, say, long hair or fatty tissue, and the species
will then gradually evolve in that direction.
But Evolution theory fails to explain:
Which evolved first? and how did it work without the other?
Examples: The Egg or The Hen, The Flower or The Bee

Even if evolution is true, then…

Why are Apes and Monkeys not extinct?
Where are the intermediate forms (missing links) between Ape and Man?

Darwin himself confesses,

R. Wallace (Dec.22 1857).

“You will be greatly disappointed. It (forthcoming book) will be grievously too hypothetical.” in a letter,
regarding the concluding chapters of ‘The Origin of the Species’ (1858).

“Not one change of species into another is on record…we cannot prove that a single species has
changed.” towards the end of his life.

CASE STUDY (1) – The Evolution of Bombardier Beetle—half inch Marvel -Reported in Time Magazine
reported on February 25, 1985.

1. The bombardier beetle does appear to be unique in the animal kingdom.

2. Its defense system is extraordinarily intricate, a cross between tear gas and a tommy gun.
3. It generates a noxious spray which explodes from its body at a boiling 100° C.

How did Bombardier evolve this system?

Q1.How does it prevent its own destruction from explosion?

A1: It prevent this with the help of an Inhibitor, which prevents the explosive chemical reactions from
taking place.

Q2:Then, how does it generate the explosion?

A2:When an anti-inhibitor is added to the other chemicals, an explosive reaction occurs and the beetle is
able to defend itself.

Q3:It must have a tough “combustion chamber” with an outlet to release the energy.
A3:It has the necessary equipment, including twin-tail tubes to “exhaust”. These tubes can be aimed at
enemies in a 180° arc.

Is creation of beetle an example of the “impersonal, plus time, plus chance”

or is it an example of a special, intricate creation by God who is intimately involved with His creatures?

CASE STUDY(2) – The Evolution of Flight.

Suppose, squirrel is on the brink of starvation due to overpopulation

It notices a flying insect!
Squirrel wants to evolve wings so as to fly and catch its food. The squirrel jumps and falls on ground
dead.
The beginning of a long line of evolutionary progress…!

23.Gould substitutes the fairy tale of neo-Darwinism with his own fairy tale, which he calls punctuated
equilibrium – evolution in rapid bursts in isolated populations. Gould does this to accommodate 1) the
half-a-wing problem, 2) the utter lack of transitional fossils in the fossil record, and most importantly 3) his
atheistic world view. It is apropos that the evidence for Gould’s fairy tale of punctuated equilibrium
appears to be based on lack of evidence (in the fossil record)!

CASE STUDY(3) – The Evolution of the Neck of Giraffe

Moving head up and down causes dizziness.

This dizziness is caused by a change in blood pressure in the head.

Giraffe’s neck is 2.5 meters long
Giraffe moves its neck up and down very fast. But no dizziness
Special valves in neck, control the blood flow to brain.

Elastic blood vessels in the giraffe’s head allow harboring of enough blood to prevent the giraffe from
passing out when bent in this position.

If evolution of this valve is true then……lets take a look at a pre-historic event

He feels thirsty!!!!
and develops an headache while bending down.
He hopes for evolution of valves!!
Outcome….the neck burst and eventual outcome is dead giraffe
Oh!!! better luck next time.

CASE STUDY (4) – How simple is a single cell organism?

1979 Evolutionists said Mycoplasma genitalium were of “special evolutionary interest because of their
extremely simple cell structure.” During 80s and early 90s, extensive research was carried out on
Mycoplasma genitalium.

In 1996 Microbiologists decided “Mycoplasma genitalium can no longer be thought of as simple

organisms.”

CASE STUDY(5) Escherichia Coli (E-coli)

A single-celled organism–Simple form of life

Annual Review of Microbiology Year 2000 edition discusses its various complex cellular processes like
…“regulation system” “transport system”.

Now we will see EVOLUTION ACCORDING TO VEDIC SCIENCE:

Vedic Concept of Evolution: A body is NOT transmigrating into another body. Soul is transmigrating from
one body to another.

“We accept evolution, but not that the forms of the species are changing. The bodies are all already
there, but the soul is evolving by changing bodies and by transmigrating from one body to another. I have
evolved from my childhood body to my adult body, and now my childhood body is extinct. But there are
many other children. Similarly, all the species are now existing simultaneously, and they were all there in
the past. For example, if you are traveling in a train, you find first class, second class, third class; they are
all existing. If you pay a higher fare and enter the first-class carriage, you cannot say, “Now the first class
is created.” It was always existing. So the defect of the evolutionists is that they have no information of the
soul. The soul is evolving, transmigrating, from one compartment to another compartment, simply
changing place. The Padma Purana says that there are 8,400,000 species of life, and the soul evolves
through them. This evolutionary process we accept: the soul evolves from aquatics to plants, to insects, to
birds, to animals, and then to the human forms. But all these forms are already there. They do not
change. One does not become extinct and another survive. All of them are existing simultaneously.”

Conversation between a devotee and Srila Prabhupada:

Devotee: Evolutionary theory makes it appear as if combinations of material ingredients created life, and
then various species evolved one from another naturally.

Srila Prabhupada: That is foolishness. Combination means God. God is combining. Combination does not
take place automatically. Suppose I am cooking. There are many ingredients gathered for cooking, but
they do not combine together by themselves. I am the cook, and in cooking I combine together ghee,
spices, rice, dal, and so on; and in this way, nice dishes are produced. Similarly, the combination of
ingredients in nature requires God. Otherwise how does the moment arise in which the combination takes
place? Do you place all the ingredients in the kitchen and in an hour come back and say, “Oh, where is
my meal?” Nonsense! Who will cook your meal? You’ll starve. But take help of a living being, and then
we’ll cook and we can eat. This is our experience. So if there is combination, then who is combining?
They are fools not to know how combination takes place.
