Abstract
Throughout this paper I will be dissecting the podcast I chose for this assignment. I am really
excited to share my findings hopefully this can help some of you to listen to the podcasts
yourself.
Dissecting A Podcast
I listened to the very first episode of the podcast it is called “You Can Change” this podcast
opens with a couple ads then she opens with a hook. Without giving too much away from the
podcast the hook was great! It opens with an amazing statement that everyone can relate too
about working very hard toward something but, as soon as you get to its peak its not as
satisfying as you thought it would be. After the delivery of her opening statement she then
introduces herself to her audience. The content on this episode is sharing some science and
information behind something everyone wants to obtain which is this little thing called
happiness. She concludes the episode with trying to convince the audience to continue this
journey and learn more about how to get to the place of happiness within themselves.
Interview
In this first episode she interviews two educators the first one being Sonja Lyubomirsky A
professor at Stanford and the second being Robert Waldinger a director at Harvard University
The Interview
Through their interviews they give some science behind what they have found to be dream
about finding and working for happiness. The offer audience participation through getting their
audience to self-reflect and think about what they want out of the podcast. Through this they are
hoping to help people better themselves and allow themselves to find the problems in their
discovery to happiness.
Tone
Overall, the tone of the podcast is very lighthearted and optimistic. You can hear happy and
calming music in the background throughout the podcast.
In conclusion, if you are trying to go on a journey of self-discovery and struggling with being
happy, I think this podcast could truly help to open your mind to new possibilities of happiness.
