Module 2

Hello teacher, in this module I began learning the pronunciation of various computer
terms of the input and output devices, like Graphics tablet, Alphanumeric keys,
Underexpose, Trackball, etc. This was in the vocabulary, then I was reading about
Interacting with your device, in that section I was able to know the different types of
input and output devices, such as Webcam, Punch card reader, Project, Film Recorder,
etc.
And it's also about describing functions that says that we can describe the functions of
our devices, how they work / what they are used for or what they do exactly, in the next
unit number 6 talks about the capture devices Image, some, explains how the magic of
lops scanners works and the different types of image capture devices such as cameras,
which have different sensors such as image sensors, resolution sensors, etc.

In the next unit number 7 called Display screen and ergonomics, this unit talks about
how Computer Monitors Work, it starts talking about its composition and how it works
which is normally liquid crystal display technology works by blocking light.
Specifically, an LCD is made of two pieces of polarized glass (also called substrate) that
contain a liquid crystal material between them. A backlight creates light that passes
through the first substrate, there is a part that talks about the history of these monitors
and how they have evolved over time, in unit 8 this is the last unit of this module and it
is called Choosing a printer, this unit is about printers, what I learned in this unit was
some different brands of printers, the characteristics of some of them,

I also learned about their history over the years, this unit talks about the different
components of a printers, the great variety of printers that there are for different jobs, I
learned that in the year 2010 was when the 3D printers began to be known, the choice of
print technology has a great effect on the cost of the printer and cost of operation, speed,
quality and permanence of documents, and noise.

Some printer technologies do not work with certain types of physical media, such as
carbon paper or transparencies, some of the printers that I could know thanks to this unit
were the following: Liquid inkjet printers, Solid ink printers, Dye-sublimation printer,
Thermal printers, Impact printers: Impact printers rely on a forcible impact to transfer
ink to the media. The impact printer uses a print head that either hits the surface of the
ink ribbon, pressing the ink ribbon against the paper, Typewriter-derived printers, Daisy
wheel printers, Line printer: line printers print an entire line of text at a time. Four main
designs exist, Plotter, etc.

All the information learned in this module was of great importance to me, since many
terms and history about the different technological artifacts was unknown to me, since I
have learned them I hope to continue practicing to never forget them and use them
during my professional life.
Module 3
This module begins with an intro which refers to one of its units which is called
devices for disables, then there is a vocabulary in which I learned the pronunciation of
different terms such as: Flash-based, Transfer rate, Burner, Laser Beam, Pits, Layer,
Plated, etc. Learning these new words or terms was a great help for me since I did not
know them. The next unit called Devices for the disabled, this unit starts with some
questions and some images which we have to identify with the different descriptions
which were:
Blind person, adapted keyboard, motor-impaired person, on screen keyboard, screen
magnifier, voice recognition system, Braille printer, screen-pointing device, adaptive
switch, screen reader, touch screen, pneumatic switch (sip and puff).
Some of these descriptions fit the images so I could relate them and understand what it
was about.

After this, he talks about "How do I disable people use computers?", A very
important topic for me, since it teaches me what are the means or the ways to use this
type of people to be able to use technology or computers, I read that Deaf people, hard-
of-hearing, hearing-impaired with significantly impaired hearing is deaf in a generic
sense. But someone with a lower degree of impairment may be more accurately called
hard-of-hearing. Hearing-impaired is a medical-sounding term that many people
voluntarily use to describe themselves, Blind, visually-impaired, low-vision: Blind
people are most apt to have attended school for the blind, though the same
mainstreaming trend affects blind students. Not many people with any kind of visual
impairment read Braille, Mobility-impaired: people with mobility impairments have
difficulty moving one or more parts of the body. Where Web design is concerned, to
mobility impairment that affects use of a computer or device, etc, these are some of the
most common ways in which I understood that the disable people use when they have
the opportunity.
The next unit is a very important unit for me since I had no knowledge of it, this unit
is called Magnetic Storage, this unit starts with a question which is: What is a Magnetic
storage device ?, This question can be seen answered throughout this unit, where it is
explained that the storage of data on a magnetized medium. Magnetic storage uses
different patterns of magnetization in a magnetizable material to store data and is a form
of non-volatile memory.
The information is accessed using one or more read / write heads, I also read about
the history of this magnetic storage unit, this unit ends with a Complete the sentences, I
learned a lot about this unit, about its history and the different types of magnetic
storage, I remember that I read that Magnetic storage in the form of wire recording
audio recording on a wire was publicized by Oberlin Smith in the Sept 8, 1888 issue of
Electrical World.
In the next unit called Optical storage, a whole text related to the Optical storage is
detailed in which I learned that consisting of computer components and recording that
are used to retain digital data. It is a fundamental function of computers, I learned that
optical storage can be seen in cd, dvds, etc. and that storage capacity depends on the
amount of binary code that can be stored in it.
In the following unit entitled Flash memory, I could learn more about this important
topic, which was not very well known to me, the definition I learned from the text was:
Flash memory is a non-volatile memory chip used for storage and for transferring data
Between a personal computer (PC) and digital devices, its history begins in the year
1980 and Flash memory was named after its ability to erase a block of data "" in a flash,
a very interesting story about this important memory in the technology.
Thanks for the material, very interesting and important
