IDENTIFY THE SUBJECT OF THE PAINTING. IS IT REPRESENTATIONAL OR NON-REPRESENTATIONAL ART?

WHY?

The notion that art could be entirely is non-representational because the lines and curves of
floral life captured with beautifully subtle colors. This art print displays sharp, vivid images with a high
degree of color accuracy. It looks like the female anatomy but represented with blue, black, grey and
yellow lines and colors. The starkness of the transitions between the painting’s darks and its almost
white pinks, blues, and yellows suggests selective overexposure through dodging and burning, the works
are visually engaging on the formal terms they set out, this painting is as much about abstraction and
experimentation as they are viewed through its formal cues and effects.

EXPLAIN THE POSSIBLE MEANING(S) OF SAID SUBJECT DEPICTED BY THE ARTIST

The ambiguous cropping of the abstracted organic shapes certainly adds to the misconception.
The possible meaning of the said subject depicted by the artist that I call up is these three words in
conjunction with the word vagina, or vulva, is what I think of something that naturally comes
together. When I saw this kind of work I think the artist wants it as empowering to women, and as a
clear statement of female agency in the art world. For me, this artwork was metaphorical representation
of female body, created in contrast to the traditions of female nudes painted by male artists, and from
male audiences. Moreover, in the 20th century the art of femininity became the prerogative of the
sensual, delicate, and vulva-like flowers. This art shows how a girl’s feminism is very special that it is
colored by different colors. The painting seems like the center of flower that if we look closely, the mid
origin is almost always depicted in every portrait as a primary point, which if we look closely may
resemble something familiar. I think this painting lent credence to the sexual nuance of the painter’s
paintings was one of is this ambiguity which is fascinating and has led me critics to argue that it is an
abstract work and that the undulating folds are based upon female genitalia.

EVALUATE THE ARTWORK BASED ON ANY PHILOSOPHICAL FRAMEWORKS OF ART WE DICUSSED IN

CLASS.

The artwork can be evaluated as Art as Representational by Aristotle. The aim of art is not to
represent the outward appearance of things but their inward significance. This art significance can’t be
seen by our naked eyes but it needs some time to think about what is the innermost explanations of it
just like this quotation “to see takes time just like to have a friend takes time”. For example this artwork,
we can see it as a colourful vulva or a vagina of women however if we look at it with some
understanding with more critical thinking we might see it as flowers before the implication that it
empowers women as metaphorical representation of female’s body. We won’t be able to see what’s the
meaning it if we look at it just for a while, we need some time to understand the painting with its
treasured meaning.
