1 Why is communication the lifeblood of a business organisation?

communication is vital inside the company because employees can be better motivated and
more efficient by it.
2 What are the benefits to you and your organisation of effective communication?
increased productivity. higher quality of services and products. greater levels of trust and
commitment. increased employee engagement and higher levels of creativity.
3 Explain three of the factors that you must consider when choosing the method of
communication.
1. Nature of Message:
The means of communication depends upon the nature of the message. Urgent, confidential,
private and important messages should be distinguished from ordinary, routine, open and less
important messages and the means of communication are to be chosen accordingly.
2. Cost:
The cost of sending a message is also to be considered while selecting a mode of
communication. The result obtained should justify the expenditure.
3. Record: If the record of the communication is important it should be written, otherwise
oral communication is sufficient.
4 Discuss three reasons why you would use oral channels of communication, and three
reasons why you would use written channels.
1. because it can help resolve conflicts by facilitating discussion among many people at the
same time and helping to reinforce ideas and create solutions that can bring about positive
results.
2. Oral communication allows him to talk directly with employees who are involved in the
problem.
3. Quickly obtain information about the problem and meet with others to discuss plans for
fixing the problem.
5 What are barriers to communication? Discuss briefly, stating a variety of different
barriers that exist.
 Poor Quality of Message:

When a message is prepared, it must be consistent in all respects like – clarity, precision
and usage of appropriate words to express the ‘idea’ to be transmitted. It should be in simple
words, easily understood by the receiver. Otherwise it becomes non-specific and the receiver
will have a difficulty in following it properly.

 Faulty Transmission:
When message is received from the superior to the subordinate, the individual receiving it
must be able to translate it to different categories of subordinates having the constraints of
level of understanding and their IQ. It does require proper interpretation of the message
received to help disseminate the information to the subordinates.

 Lack of Clarity:
In all the messages, there are certain ideas, which need to be understood correctly. In
other words, the meaning between the lines of the message must be well-perceived by the
receiver. If it is not, there is every likelihood of the message being misunderstood leading to
confusion.

6 How is the growth of teamworking affecting communication?

The more collaboration your projects require the more assertive and intentional your
communication should be. Every member of the team needs to take the initiative to
communicate. When a team is not actively communicating, their work is at stake.
7 Discuss some ways in which you can improve intercultural communications.
Learn About Other Cultures
In order to avoid insensitive comments and misunderstandings, research and learn
about specific cultures. At the same time, avoid overgeneralizing and stereotyping. Each
person is an individual, so try not to make assumptions about a person of another culture
based on what you have learned. Instead, aim for a better understanding and more effective
communication.
Avoid Using Slang and Idioms

Use specific and relevant words when speaking. Slang and idioms will not be
understood by people of other cultures; try not to put others in a position that requires them to
"read between the lines." Think before you speak. Clarify or rephrase your dialogue when
you catch yourself saying something that may be misinterpreted.Be Aware

Be aware

of your body and energy; nonverbal cues and gestures may communicate more than
you think. At the same time, pay attention to and be aware of others' nonverbal cues and
gestures.
