Directions:    
 
For  this  assignment,  you  will  practice  writing  a  short  annotated  bibliography.  You  
can  choose  one  of  the  following  topics  and  then  search  for  at  least  two  academic  
sources  related  to  that  topic.  These  are  broad,  academic  topics,  so  you’ll  also  be  
practicing  creating  effective  search  terms  and  searching  for  academic  sources.  
 
 
 
Practice  Topics  (Choose  one):  
 
Urban  crime   Child  nutrition  
Alzheimer’s  disease   Food  allergies  
Animal  rights   Internet  security  
International  trade   Adult  literacy  
Alternative  energy  sources   Interest  Rates  
 
 
 
In  the  bibliography,  you  need  to  do  all  of  the  following  for  each  source:  
 
• Use  MLA  format  
• Give  the  source  information  
• Summarize  the  source  
• Evaluate  the  reliability  of  the  source  
• Write  only  one  paragraph  per  source  
• Make  sure  each  paragraph  has  7-­‐12  sentences  
 
 
 
Because  you  are  not  actually  writing  a  research  paper  in  this  class,  you  do  not  need  
to  address  the  usefulness  of  the  source.  
 
 
Check  the  format  of  the  Sample  Bibliography  Assignment  that  you  have  been  
provided  and  follow  that  example.
