ESCALATOR / MOVING WALK

6.1 Escalator/Moving Walk Design Requirements

1. Provide suitable floor openings, support beams with necessary bearing plates
including intermediate support beams, if required.

2. Provide escalator/moving walk pit with the necessary drainage and waterproofing.

3. Provide suitable hoisting beams or hooks for hoisting of the escalator/moving


walk equipment during installation as per supplier’s requirement.

4. Provide temporary power supply of A.C. single phase 230 Volts, 50 Hz. and
lighting as required for working of tools, testing and adjustment of the escalator/
moving walk during installation.

5. Permanent power supply of A.C. 3-Phase, 400 Volts, 50 Hz, shall be provided and
terminated at the Sub-DB with an appropriate M.C.C.B rating at the top escalator/
moving walk truss.

6. Provide a separate power source of 13A switch socket outlet and lighting complete
with lighting control switch at the top and bottom of the escalator/moving walk
truss for maintenance purposes.

7. The maximum allowable weight for escalator/moving walk cladding is 196N/sqm.

8. All floor openings around escalator/moving walk must be provided with appropriate
railings.

9. The minimum headroom for escalator/moving walk shall be 2300mm.

10. Anti-climbing device, access restriction device, anti-slide device and vertical
deflector to be provided accordingly in compliance with EN 115-1. Depending
on the condition of each project, the Client must comply with the requirements as
set out in JKJ 167:3/3.

11. All electrical conduits for lightings and sprinkler pipes shall be installed on the
external escalator/moving walk truss.
