To Whom It May Concern,

I am honored to write a letter of recommendation for Dr. Helen Eckmann to be promoted to the
rank of Full Professor at Brandman University. I have been acquainted both professionally and
personally with Dr. Eckmann for many years. Dr. Eckmann is the model for what a professor
should be at Brandman University. Her accomplishments in our core areas of teaching, service,
and mentorship are what this institution should recognize and be proud of.

In teaching, Dr. Eckmann oversees several key undergraduate and graduate courses for the BBA
and MBA programs as well as for Brandman’s doctoral program. She has worked hard to develop
these courses with up to date research, methods, assignments, rubrics, and best practices.

Dr. Eckmann participates in important service opportunities for the university and local
community. For Brandman she has functioned in many important roles such as serving on: the
Faculty Personnel Committee (vice chair), Governance and Appeals Committee (served as chair),
Faculty Executive Committee, ad-hoc member of the CBE committee, and curriculum team chair.
The list of her external service participation in local, regional, and state organization is extensive
and impressive.

In the area of mentoring, Dr. Eckmann mentors students across the Brandman system. She
thoughtfully participates in school meetings and events, mentors students via computer, phone,
and in person, and provides support to adjuncts teaching the courses she oversees.

As a faculty colleague, I have witnessed first-hand Dr. Eckmann’s leadership, expertise, and
passion for her work at Brandman University. Dr. Eckmann completely embodies what Brandman
University faculty should strive for. I feel she is truly deserving of the rank of Full Professor.

Sincerely,

Lynn R. Larsen, Ph.D.
