Online education is administrated over internet and often referred as
e-learning. It can divided in several categories depending on the
amount of online learning incorporated in the course, ranging from
traditional face to face learning to blended learning to exclusive
online courses. This system is highly beneficial as you can do many
courses at a time, with availability of all related information in one
click. Professionals can learn new skills and get more opportunities.
Students can sharpen their knowledge. Asynchronous classes have
made learning easier as students can now save their lectures and can
use them for revision any time later. It provides wide scalability and
is efficient. Reduced costs of lectures is bringing large number of
learners to e-learning.

TRADITIONAL EDUCATION Vs E-LEARNING

Over last decade, online sector has undergone unimaginable number
of changes. The current options are infinite but, not all of them are fit
for a students.
The benefits for online study are flexibility, commodity and
customized learning experience. It also provides a wide selection of
courses and access to didactic material from any place, anytime. Its
highly cost effective.
It also have some disadvantages, which includes a need for
compromise, motivation, and self discipline. Students also face the
lack of technological equipment and a good internet connection
especially in rural areas.

3
Traditional education is still strong in India. It provides a feeling of
sociability and solidarity. It also makes students better with the
ability to work in groups. Traditional education is also available in the
deep rural areas which make it their only source of education.

Somehow, schedule stiffness, higher costs not only of money but

also of time are disadvantages of traditional education. Students also
sense loss of individualization in a large group of students. They also
face less and more expensive didactic material.

NEW MARKET AND START-UPS

The online education is segmented into primary and secondary
supplementary education, test preparation and reskilling and
certification, higher education language and causal learning. The
global academic e-learning market size was 103.8 billion in 2019 and
expected to grow at a CAGR of 11.23% during 2020-2025.

4
Whereas in India, online education was valued at INR 39 billion and
expected to reach INR 360.3 billion by 2024.

Various e-learning start-ups and their popularity.

RECOMMENDATIONS
Despite of various advantages of online education, they are
still mainly constricted to urban areas.
• Availability of internet in rural areas should be increased so as
to make e-learning efficient for students and professionals.
• More number of courses should be included under the online
platform so that all students can be advantaged.
• One to one interaction should be more personalized for
making schedule discipline.
• Reduction of costs of online courses and programs.
