Every person is made in the image of God and everyone has its own life and it is precious since it
is the greatest gift that comes from above. Life is very sacred and worthy of all the respect, no
matter who or where a person is living or what status he/she have in the society Life of every
person is more important than things and everything that we have here on earth. As what the
scriptures in the bible says in,
Genesis 1:26-31
God created man and woman in his image.
Proverbs 22:2
The Lord is the maker of both rich and poor.
Luke 10:25-37
The good Samaritan recognized the dignity in the other and cared for his life.
Solidarity
We are one human family whatever our national, racial, ethnic, economic and ideological
differences. No matter what, who or where a person came from despite of the differences we
should become one for we are created by the same God. Everyone should a unity for a better
society. Each one has different roles in the society. Everyone should help one another since no
man is an island.
The person is not only sacred but also social. Everyone has its own calling that can help him/her
to become socially active in the society. The family is the center of the institution and every
member of the family is said to have different roles and responsibilities. Every member should
have a right and duty to participate in the society. Each person plays a great role in the society. If
anyone really belongs to a society in any aspects he/ she should participate to make the
community better.
The Catholic tradition teaches that human dignity can be protected and a healthy community can
be achieved only if human rights are protected and responsibilities are met. Everyone has its own
right especially the right to live. In having rights also means having responsibilities to one
another, to the family or to the society. Every rights and responsibilities of a person should be
done correctly to attain peace in the society.
Work is more than a way to make a living; it is a form of continuing participation in God’s
creation. It is one way on how a person can somehow survive. Just like a person who belongs in
a society, workers have also rights that needs to be observe. The work that a person has should
not be an abuse but rather it should be a passion for everyone. It is to make the work flow
smooth, the worker should be treated and respected because that is what they deserve.
We show our respect for the Creator by our stewardship of creation. As Christians, we should
also care for the things that God also created. Let us not be abusive of the things that we have
right now. We should also think about the future if what will happen. In just our simple ways of
caring for the environment we can make a difference.
5.
The economy exists for the person, not the person for the economy. All economic life should be
shaped by moral principles. Economic choices and institutions must be judged by how they
protect or undermine the life and dignity of the human person, support the family and serve the
common good. A fundamental moral measure of any economy is how the poor and vulnerable
are faring. All people have a right to live and to secure the basic necessities of life, such as food,
clothing, shelter, education, health care, safe environment, and economic security. All people
have the right to economic initiative, to productive work, to just wages and benefits, to decent
working conditions as well as to organize and join unions or other associations. All people, who
are able, have a corresponding duty to work, a responsibility to provide for the needs of their
families and an obligation to contribute to the broader society. In economic life, free markets
have both clear advantages and limits. The government has essential responsibilities and
limitations. Society has a moral obligation, including governmental action where necessary, to
assure opportunity, meet basic human needs, and pursue justice in economic life. Workers,
owners, managers, stockholders and consumers are moral agents in economic life. By our
choices, initiative, creativity and investment, we enhance or diminish economic opportunity,
community life and social justice. The global economy has moral dimensions and human
consequences. Decisions on investment, trade, aid and development should protect human life
and promote human rights, especially for those most in need wherever they might live on this
globe.
2. Land and Natural resources
Everything that we have including the natural resources is also made by God. As
Christians we should see natural resources like human that needs to be taken care of.
These resources should not be abused because it is only limited. We may now enjoy
because there is still more but time will come that all of these will be gone in one snap.
Many people who are an example of how they took care of the things that God has given.
In order to preserve these natural resources everyone should care for the environment.
Everyone should think first of what will happen if we do things that can harm. As being
Christians, we should set as an example in taking care of the environment since we are
steward of God. God gives us also the duty and to be responsible for our actions in taking
care of the environment
