PRE-MIDTERM EXAM | Theology 2a

1. Based on your readings, what is “Revelation”?

Revelation is somewhat linked to the idea that deals with being known or that of being

disclosed to people. It is difficult to understand and inspires a wide range of questions. It opens

the understanding of how our salvation works as suggested by the scriptures. The glory of God is

highly elaborated in His revelation of Himself to mankind through the sacrifice of the cross by

Jesus Christ.

2. How does God reveal Himself?

God revealed Himself through the salvation of the human race. In the creation, God made

Himself known by letting the whole world experience all of His grace - from the design of the

identity of the flora and fauna to the creation of human in His own image and likeness. He has

also exposed Himself by saving the Israelites through Moses and all the Prophets that He has

sent His people. The sacrifice on the cross by Jesus’ crucifixion, God showed His great love to

the human race. Through Christ’s resurrection, it is made know to everyone that there is life and

that we are now saved. He gave His only begotten Son for us to be part of the salvation that He

promised. In our everyday lives, we also experience how wonderful God is.
3. How important is Jesus Christ in God’s Revelation?

Jesus Christ plays a vital role in God’s Revelation. He is the Sacrificial Lamb who

surrendered His reign for the salvation of all. Without Jesus, God’s revelation will not be

successful. God’s love has been materialized, in one way or another, through the crucifixion and

death of Jesus Christ. The resurrection of Jesus is a reminder that there is hope in the new life

given to us by God. Jesus, having a huge heart for all of us, has been our redeemer. The Lord has

been very good to His people since from the start of creation up until today.

4. How does Christ reveal God to us today?

Christ reveals Himself today through the sacraments that we receive in the church. Being

baptized Catholics, we are responsible for the uplifting of our own identities through our

participation in God’s glory. We have to partake in the church’s goals to becoming one, holy

Catholic Church. Our conscience tells to follow Christ’s ways in being human. Christ is also

present in the existence of every person that we encounter in our lives. He is there in the

circumstances that we experience, both in the joys and in the painful ones.

5. How do we Catholics get to know Sacred Scripture/the Bible?

We can be familiar with the Sacred Scripture or the Bible by reading it everyday. It’s a

known notion that Catholics do not frequently open and use their bibles, and I guess this act can

be corrected. We can only be acquainted to particular things if we get to know them deeply. Like
that of the Holy Bible, it will be closer to our hearts if we tend to use it more often. The Bible

talks about eternal life and of endless love. We must also apply the teachings that we can get

from the Bible. The retention of what we read from the Sacred Scriptures will be much higher if

we put them into action. The Bible is a beautiful compilation of books and it’s worth the read.

6. In our daily lives, how do we give importance the sacred Scripture?

We can give importance to the Sacred Scriptures by making ourselves understand that the

Bible is all about God and His loving mercy for the human race. Through this understanding, we

can be able to do works that are inspired by the teachings of the Bible. We must seriously deal

with the words of God, making it a part of our daily lives. The application of the teachings found

in the Bible can play a vital role in the ministry of evangelization. Materializing the good deeds

found in the Sacred Scriptures can lead people to the realization of how wonderful God is.

In your daily undertakings, during this pandemic, how do you see the presence of God

amidst our present situation?

It cannot be denied that this pandemic has turned tables around, creating a new normal in

everything that we do and putting us in a very overwhelming situation. Because of this COVID-

19, people are getting sick and others are dying while businesses are closing and the economy is

failing. Everyone is affected in a very uncomplimentary manner. This pandemic puts us in a

condition where we can somewhat question God’s choices. However, in one way or another,
because of this pandemic, some people tend to be so extra in helping those in need. We can

clearly feel the presence of God in the facade of those people who are generous and selfless. God

is also present in those people who tend to follow the health protocols thus contributing to the

safety of everyone. The Lord can also be seen in the person of our front liners who can be

considered as heroes. Yes, we are in a very difficult situation yet there are still those individuals

who choose to share what they have to those who badly need such. There are still people who are

sacrificing their own lives for the goodness of everyone, and I know that God is always with

them. God is still present in our midst regardless of what we encounter. This pandemic reminds

us that we need God in our lives. Our present situation puts us in the realization of the truth about

life - that everything is temporary, even us. We only have one goal, and that is to be unified with

our Lord in heaven. The promise of God is true and it is forever, we have to put our trust in Him.
