2. Reflect on the state of S & T in the country,while going through the reference materials, you may use
but not limited to the following reflection points :

a. What are the strengths and weaknesses of the Philippine Sciencr and Technology research and
development?

• The strengths of the Philippines Science and Technology, we have a lots of Local invented machines,
and there were also exhibits from nearly field in Science, showing off some pretty impressive
accomplishments including sophisticated medical equipment and a light plane. This was all developed
locally. The strength of the Philippine Science and Technology is to raise people's awareness of the state
of S & T in the country. And there were many show cased in the DOST exhibit. e.g

Hybrid bus, Shake curt and booths exhibiting other information technologies, combinations of sensors
fed into computer software to monitor traffic,flooding,household and community.

The weaknesses of Philippine Science and Technology ;

1.Lack of coordination of research work.

2. Shortage of research funds.

3. Shortage of manpower and qualified teachers.

4. Lack of science consciousness.

b. Do you think the Government and Principle sector support relevant Science and Technology priority
area.

● Yes, because typically Government's role is pronounced in the early research and development
phases of this progression while the private sector plays a Government larger role in the
demonstration and development phases. Nevertheless, Government can also make an
important contribution in the demonstration and early development phases.

For example, by funding demonstrstion projects, providng financiql incentives to overcome early
deployment hurdles, and helping to create a market for new technologies through purchasing
and other policies.

c.Is the support of the Government for Science and Technology research adequate ( in terms of
prioritization compared to other expenditures) ?
d If you were to draw up to 3 top research priorities for the country, What do you think they should
be?

e.How would you popularize or drum up support dor Science and Technology research in the country
for different target groups ( i.e- students, politicians, local scientists, inventions. etc?)
