Strategies of Hyekyo Recruitment Agency on Employee’s Theft Incident


for a Hospitality Customer

Problem:
Hospitality staff caught stealing from hotel guest’s luggage

▪ Filipino bellboy opened a luggage when guest was away, it was


confirmed that it’s a Russian and the guest complained a missing
jewelries.
▪ He was caught by his co-worker, and reported to the management
and on CCTV footage of the incident was uploaded on social
media.
▪ The video of this made rounds online swiftly.
▪ There were also incidents reported to their customer service of a
missing things like money, jewelries and gadgets.

Solution: Investigation and Disciplinary action

✔ Hyekyo Recruitment agency imposed disciplinary action toward


the accused employee as provided in Article 145 of the revised
Philippine Overseas employment administration rules and
regulations governing the recruitment and employment of land –
based overseas Filipino workers of 2019
✔ The Philippine partner recruitment agency employed a dreadful
.background check and rigorous character referencing in screening
candidates for hotel and restaurants sites.
✔ Conducting training boosting their skills to work together as team,
also seminars so that they will know the rules and regulations of a
company. Furthermore, the consequences of any cases of
malpractices including theft.
Moving forward
Theft in hospitality is not common. It’s not as rampant as we think, but
it’s not also an isolated case to ignore. While, the nature of the
business industry makes it more prone to opportunities of stealing
from guests, honesty and integrity is still expected among hotel
employees.
