What is the MKH 800 TWIN?

The MKH 800 TWIN is a universal studio condenser microphone of exceptional quality. It includes a dual
capsule consisting of two symmetrical push-pull transducers with high linearity. This is a "side fire"
microphone with the two cardioid pick-up patterns of the transducer aligned back-to-back across the axis of
the microphone. The signals of both transducers are not combined locally in the microphone (in order to
generate differing pick-up patterns) but are instead available separately as two channels at the microphone
output. This allows the pick-up patterns of the MKH 800 TWIN to be adjusted after the recording.

What is the AMBEO MKH 800 TWIN Pattern?

The AMBEO MKH 800 TWIN Pattern is a stereo in – mono out plugin that allows the user to exactly sculpt the
desired pick-up pattern of the MKH 800 TWIN. A pattern synchronization mechanism enables the
simultaneous control of multiple microphones.

How to Install

The AMBEO MKH 800 TWIN Pattern can be used as an AAX, VST, VST3, or AU plugin for macOS and Windows.
After downloading, simply run the .pkg installer on macOS, or the .exe installer on Windows.
The installer may ask you whether you want to overwrite the installed beta version of the plugin. If you choose
to do so, you will not be able to reload the plugin’s settings in existing projects.

Compatibility

The AMBEO MKH 800 TWIN Pattern v1.0.0 is not compatible with older versions.

How to Use

The AMBEO MKH 800 TWIN Pattern was designed to integrate easily with standard digital recording and
mixing workflows. To begin, route the two signals coming from your MKH 800 TWIN to a stereo track and load
the MKH 800 TWIN Pattern onto the first plugin slot.

Pattern
This graphically displays the chosen pickup characteristics. Drag the shape to change it. Double click to snap
it to its nearest “standard” pickup pattern.

Slider
Drag the slider to adjust the pickup pattern. Drag the value to change the plugin’s output.

Characteristics
Click on one of the symbols to get a precise “standard” pickup pattern. Click on one of the dots to get the
intermediate pickup pattern between neighboring patterns.

Toggle Sidebar
Click to hide the sidebar on the right to maximize screen space.

Faders
The left fader controls the volume of the front cardioid. The right controls the value of the back cardioid.
Double-click on the fader cap to flip the phase of the corresponding channel.

Pattern Sync
Choosing a group from the dropdown menu will add the plugin instance to a specific group. Adding two or
more instances to the same group allows you to control multiple plugin instances at once.
