THE MOVEMENT CAMP 2020

DATES: LOCATION:
A P R I L 11T H (A R R IVA L) P H U K E T, T H A I L A N D
12 T H - 18 T H (CA M P )
19 T H - D E PA R T U R E
WORKSHOPS AND ACTIVITIES
THIS YEAR:
1. Hydrophilic - Roye Goldschmidt
The workshop will be conducted in water and will include exploration of
movement inside water in a non conventional way. As our planet is over 70%
covered in water and the human body is comprised of up to 60% water,
knowledge of moving AND liquids as well as moving IN liquids is invaluable.

The workshop will not be a traditional swimming class but instead will focus
on various water based challenges, motions, exploratory drills and situations:

• 3D Water Awareness drills • Breath work

• Play, reaction and interaction in water • Water based locomotion and
• Fluid body for fluid movement inside... fluids “Modus Operandi”: Cutting, Propelling,
Hovering, Gliding, Waving, Floating, Sinking
• Coordination work in relation to water

2. Ido's Movement Class - Ido Portal

This workshop will interlace various subjects, concepts and master-key ideas from
Ido's recent research into a number of movement drills and application platforms.

The main concepts to be explored:

• Connectivity and Internal Architecture manipulation vs external movement changes
• Coordination as deep total body unity, ridding ourselves from a need of 'coordinating'
• Interaction - our inherit necessity to 'rub against' an outside source such as
our environment, a partner or an object in order to self locate, self define and
self develop
• Releasing vs relaxing
• Balancing tension vs balancing compression
• Refining through defining
• War over peace in growth and evolution
• Tactics and strategy in movement practice
3. Interplay
Odelia Goldschmidt & Shai Faran
Interplay is the result of the interaction occurring between two or more elements
acting separately to form a third combined effect. This workshop will explore
INTERACTION as a primary focus, using a partner and the ground.

Modes to be explored:
• Interacting with the ground through the vertical and horizontal axises
•Partnering interaction based on diverse dynamic systems
•Movement Improvisation as a platform of exploration,
development and research
•Voice and tonality interaction

4. Domain(ate) - Marcello Palozzo

This workshop will run in a tight bond with the environment and will investigate
tools to enhance movement intelligence, displacement dynamics and
overcoming obstacles.

The classes will revolve around the following concepts:

• Displacement skills in various terrains
• Light skills, cloud steps, clever feet, accuracy and swiftness and
a quicker brain
• Pattern recognition as a tool to create new movement pathways
• Inter-limb coordination and mechanics for different forms of locomotion
• Absorption vs redirection of force
• Movement riddles and problem-building & solving scenarios
5. Ha & Tha - Dudi Malka
In the long journey of the Hatha Yoga from the east, many of the basic preliminary
and prerequisite techniques that were used to prepare the practitioner for the
arduous journey, were lost.

The workshop will be dedicated to introducing and deepening these essential

tools, providing useful, pith teaching that can help eliminate future blockages
and plateaus that many encounter.

These tools include:

• Different spiral and linear squats
• Manipulation of the abdominal cavity and joints
• Observation into the role of the mind in the process

6. Neuroscience Perspective on the Learning and Practice

of Movement - lecture by Andrew D. Huberman, Ph.D.
The lecture will focus on three main areas:

1. A review of the neuroanatomy of the voluntary and involuntary neural

pathways controlling movement. This will include:
• Basic architecture and “core modules” controlling movement
• The relationship between different body parts and types of movement
to various neurotransmitter systems
• “Primitive” vs “evolved” movement

2. The learning process: a neural perspective

• Neuroplasticity 101: what is this really?
• Neuroplasticity 102: how does the process differ at different stages of
life and learning; gates to entry
• Role of state in creating and consolidating motor learning: fear, rest,
de-focus, focus
• How to reshape the circuits that matter

3. Pragmatics: An actionable Framework for implementing this knowledge

7. Praxis
lecture by Ido Portal

As the emerging 'Movement Practice' perspective is revealing itself, there is a fair

amount of confusion it brings with it.

In no place so far has the Movement Practice been presented in a holistic and
detailed fashion, the lecture will focus on mapping the territory and presenting its
unique features:

• Philosophy • Etiquette
• Practicum • Direction
• Ethics • Community

8. Environmental Movement Practice

lecture by Marcello Palozzo

Movement cannot be separated by the structure that occupies it and the context
in which it occurs. The environment in which we move in is a huge component
that is informing and molding our movement and.... us.

The lecture will provide a unique historical wide panoramic scan of the assortment
of disciplines and practices that emerged out of various environments and the
challenges they offer, interesting figures and innovators and feats that were
performed in urban and/or natural settings.

To conclude a unifying look at the role and place of the Environmental Movement
Practice inside the bigger picture Movement Practice, including review and
discussion of:

• Unique features of the practices focused and stemming from the environment
• Movement as a center focus and environment as a secondary feature, a stage
VS environment as a center focus and movement being directed by it
• The city and us - a cage of gold or the ultimate playground?
• Practical session examples exposed and explained
• The current state of art and future directions
