Working with volunteers and committees

There are many events which invites volunteers from their own organization or from a specific
public domain (eg. Students, researchers, doctors etc.) or general public
Event organisers also take up student volunteers or trainees for a particular event or assignment.
mstudent or volunteers, it adds on to their knowledge and experience.

These volunteers are given different assignments according to their capability and interest, or as
per requirement. Some of them help for the 'set-up' of the event venue during the day, while
others assist during the event only. Volunteers could be a major source for the awareness and
promotion of the event.

It is essential that such staff needs to be briefed and given instructions clearly so that there are no
loops or mishaps. They should know –
Who to report
What to do
Entry and exit point for them
Where to keep their personal belongings
Their schedule for that specific shift, etc

For huge events, single point contact is not possible. In such cases, various committees are
created to take care of a particular domain; eg, marketing, finance, logistics & accommodation,
catering & hospitality, PR team, award/gift management committee, volunteer committee,
purchase and inventory committee, etc
