Hammer/Parachute Pants

The hammer/parachute pants become very trendy in the 1980s. A rapper named MC Hammer
would wear them because they were a fresh look and allowed plenty of room to dance;
specifically, hip hop. This trend caught on when people wanted to look cool and edgy, like MC
Hammer. I believe it didn’t stick because they aren’t the most flattering or even always as
comfortable as they appear. In a society where thin is in, baggy pants often don’t contribute to
that look. They could also lead to chaffing and are not necessary for most tasks we do on a daily
basis.

Trench Coat

The trench coat originated Pre-World War 1 but become widely used during the World War.
This is because it used new waterproof technology that allowed soldiers and civilians alike. It
could also be mass produces. It was advertised as a classy coat for classy people. The common
beige color comes primarily from the soldiers’ uniform. This staple will never go out of style
because it is functional. It allows for warmth and protection from the elements while not being to
bulky. Trench coats also give a sophisticated air to the wearer.
