Motivation Letter/ Statement of Purpose

Introduction:
On the completion of my secondary school, I had to take a decision and this decision will
define my future. Being brought up in an educational environment, I was motivated to pursue
my studies in pre-engineering as I have taught that pre-engineering is one of the best field. At
the completion of higher secondary school, I was inspired by my teacher who was studying
master’s degree in chemistry. I become attracted towards different chemical reactions and
decided to learn about them. I have tried to understand the chemical methods and structures
of molecules which further enhanced my curiosity. At that time I have seen the image of my
future goals and started learning chemistry as my major subject.

Educational background:
After the completion of my higher secondary school education I got admission in bachelor of
chemistry degree at Bahauddin Zakriya University Multan, Pakistan. In the four year
bachelor program I have studied many courses of chemistry which have provided me the
deep understanding of the subject. I was studying in the last year of my bachelor’s degree
After passing my bachelor’s degree with good grades I have applied to Pakistan’s No.1
University i.e. National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) for master degree in
chemistry, because it has good research environment. Luckily, I got admission which was a
great achievement. At NUST I have participated in different chemistry workshops,
conferences and competitions, some of these are (1) Oral Talk in 4th Conference on
Frontiers of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (December 12-13, 2017), at Pakistan
Institute of Nuclear Science & Technology (PINSTECH), Islamabad, Pakistan. (2)
Oral Presentation, 10th Chemistry Conference 2018 on Chemistry in Engineering &
Life Sciences (3) International Conference on Nano Composites and Multi-Functional
Materials (ICNMM), 2123 August 2017 (4) Oral Talk in First International conference
of Nano sciences and Nanotechnology (November 2-3, 2018), at School of chemical and
material engineering (NUST), Islamabad, Pakistan. (5) Poster presentation in First
International conference of Nano sciences and Nanotechnology (November 2-3, 2018), at
School of chemical and material engineering (NUST), Islamabad, Pakistan
(6) DFT workshop 02-04 Oct 2018. During my master’s degree I have worked in the field
of nanochemistry and photocatalysis. I have synthesized different nanomaterials like cobalt
oxide, cobalt telluride, zinc telluride, graphitic carbon nitride, tin selenide and their
nanocomposites for organic dye degrading and hydrogen production. I have successfully
defended my thesis entitled as Metal Chalcogenide Modified Cobalt Oxide Nanoparticles:
Synthesis, Characterization and Photocatalytic Activity”.
I have studied many characterization techniques like scanning electron microscopy, energy
dispersive x-ray spectroscopy, x-ray diffractometry and UV-visible spectroscopy etc. I have
also learned different computer software like Endnote, Jade, X’pert highscore, Latex and
origin etc. which had helped me to understand outcomes of my research work.

Reasons to study in Hong Kong: 

Perusing the books, viewing the news, examining and watching the general population of
Hong Kong, I am truly awed by the manner in which these people have turned out to be
devoted to their workand with genuine endeavors they have set Hong Kong as an effective
case for different nations. The quickly developing economy, mechanical headway and the all
around prestigious instructive establishments of Hong Kong with high notoriety makes an
incredible yearning to the understudies and experts for the better profession points of view. In
this manner such sort of inspiration has helped my certainty further and I am profoundly
happy with the choice I have taken. Additionally, Hong Kong's different social standards and
qualities, the popular delicate neighborliness of its kin and Pakistan-Hong Kong all climate
amicable relations, acknowledgment and harmony to the two sides in incredible clearness
make me feel Hong Kong as my second country; likewise my family completely bolsters my
decision for Hong Kong being my inclination for higher investigations. Every one of these
reasons set up together make Hong Kong a perfect place for me to do my doctoral certificate.

Future Plans:
During my education, by using the knowledge of Chemistry, I will try my level best to design
and construct the multifaceted nanosystems that will help the modern world to resolve the
issues related to energy and environment. Moreover, modern world has higher demand of
energy and there is a huge demand of qualified Chemists to provide the energy in a greener
way so I visualize myself as a polished professional working among the top Chemists in the
world and a PhD degree from Hong Kong would provide me the great opportunity to achieve
my goals.
