Relevant Work Experience

Environmental Scientist, HMB Professional Engineers, Inc. Kentucky, USA 2013-2020
HMB Professional Engineers, Inc is a medium sized (approximately 75 employees) civil engineering
firm that does design and environmental work primarily for federal, state, and local government agencies in the
southeastern USA. During my time with HMB, there were ten active Federal Megaprojects (defined as projects
with a budget greater than $1 billion USD) in the entire USA, and HMB was a primary (33%) team member on
two out of those ten projects.
In my role as an environmental scientist and analyst, I created environmental impact assessment reports
that were comprehensive and understandable - documents to inform the public in a straightforward manner. I
have been the lead author or project manager on dozens of transportation projects in multiple states, projects like
NEPA documents for new highways, waterway/wetland impact (401/404) permits, or other reports.
At least once a year I received a performance incentive, typically for work I did developing new analysis
techniques (GIS review of suburban development over time, heat mapping of car crash data, new formats for
report writings, etc.) but also for completing projects significantly under budget and/or ahead of schedule.
Additionally, I have also been the firm's 'go to guy' for graphic design and GIS work, and I've had
extensive fieldwork experience – with a special focus on biological collecting and assessments, HAZMAT
sampling, wetland delineation, and socioeconomic/environmental justice surveys.
