a difference in others’ lives (Standard 2.5). Students will identify a famous person of their choice
and complete the newspaper article option (middle square) as this is their informative paragraph
portion of the assignment. They may need to look up information on the internet to help them
understand more about their person, therefore encompassing student standard 3a: I plan and
employ effective research strategies to locate information and other resources for my intellectual
or creative pursuits. Students are to choose one other option which is due by May 14, 2020.

In their first option, students will use Minecraft for Education to create a representation of their
chosen person. For example, they can create an image that shows their birth city, college
attended, or an invention. They will need to accompany this image with an explanation of their
image. This activity is valuable for this age group because they are very excited and passionate
about Minecraft. The thought of “playing a game” while doing school work will be very enticing to
second graders. This activity encompasses student standard 1b: I build networks and customize
my learning environments in ways that support the learning process. The level of student

Secondly, students can use Pixton to create a comic that would show an interaction between
them and their famous person, in which the famous person should discuss what they are
famous for. This activity is valuable for students who enjoy reading and writing, as well as
working on a computer. This activity encompasses student standards 1c: I use technology to
seek feedback that informs and improves my practice and to demonstrate learning in a variety
of ways, as well as 6c: I communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively by creating/using
