POLYIMIDE FOAM - LOPEZ

These properties make them ideal for use in aerospace industry. The industry has also shown a growing
need for highperformance polymer foams for use in cryogenic insulation, fire proofing and energy
absorbers [13] thus requiring polymers to perform in temperature range of −250 • to 300 • C. High
thermal stability, high specific stiffness and high decomposition temperature makes polyimide foams
ideal for such applications [13]

Whereas foams form low cost yet effective insulation materials for most applications, the majority of the
widely used foams, such as Rohacell and polyurethane, cannot be used above approximately 400 K as
this corresponds to their glass transition temperature [25,54,55]. Teek polyimide foams are a
noteworthy exception and have been proven to support temperatures as high as ±550 K [56][57][58].
The Teek family of foams are furthermore considered as an excellent cryogenic insulator, and exhibit
good stability at elevated temperatures while maintaining high mechanical strength (especially the
Teek-HH model) [56].

s indicated in previous reports 8,9,11,16 data presented validate that newly developed polyimide foams
are high performance polymers with excellent mechanical, physical, and thermal properties and can also
be classified as highly fire resistant materials. Mechanical properties including tensile strength,
compressive strength, and modulus indicate that the materials have good structural integrity

RECYCLING CONCRETE - POMOY

Regardless of whether a construction firm is engaged in demolition, remodeling, or even new

construction, getting rid of leftover debris is a constant need until the project is complete.

While any construction debris material can be problematic to dispose of, it's a fact that concrete,
masonry, wood, steel, tiling and drywall are especially difficult to remove and haul away from a
construction site.

On the hand, choosing to recycle concrete and masonry rubble is a far more efficient and beneficial
option. But the problem is figuring out how to best make that happen.

Keeping concrete debris out of landfills saves landfill space.

Using recycled concrete can conserve natural resources by reducing the need for gravel mining, water,
coal, oil and gas.

Using recycled concrete as the base material for roadways reduces the pollution involved in trucking
material.

Recycling concrete can create more employment opportunities.

Recycling concrete drag down the cost for buying raw materials and transporting the waste to landfill
sites.

Concrete Aggregate

Crushed recycled concrete can also be used as the dry aggregate for brand new concrete if it is free of
contaminants.

Road Building

Smaller pieces of concrete are regularly used as gravel for new road construction projects

Riprap

Larger pieces of crushed concrete can be used as riprap revetments, which has become an effective and
well-used method for controlling stream bank erosion.

CELLULOSE - VILLALOBOS

SENSITILE TERRAZO - ENCINADA

Comprised of a light-conducting matrix embedded within a substrate, SensiTiles transport light from one
surface point to another by a process called Total Internal Reflection, the same principle that makes
fiber optics possible. SensiTiles either respond to shadows or an active and moving light source. In the
former case, SensiTiles cause any shadows that fall on their surfaces to shift. In the latter, they redirect
and scatter any oncoming light. In an environment with ambient light, shadow producing movements
around a SensiTile will produce a rippling effect. In darker environments, beams of light are redirected
to emerge from another part of the surface.

SensiTiles also absorb and “bleed” colors. If colored light falls on a SensiTile, echoes of that color are
dispersed throughout its surface. If multiple colors are present, they become blended, rearranged, and
scrambled. Because SensiTile’s properties are inherent, no power is required; the light effects are
created passively from external light sources, and they last as long as the material does. It is available in
different substrates that each lend distinctive properties to the material. SensiTile Terrazzo is embedded
in concrete to give it the durability, flexibility, and aesthetic of natural stone. The light-conducting matrix
appears as a series of pixels within the concrete surface.

Synthetic Slate

Advantages Of Using Synthetic Slate Shingles

While most homes have asphalt roof shingles, there are other roofing options available for homeowners
who want their property to have a unique look. One alternative is slate. While natural slate is thin and
very delicate, synthetic slate roofing is strong and mimics the appearance of the real thing. Also called
composite slate shingles, the materials used to manufacture synthetic slate shingles vary by company;
they may be made from recycled materials such as plastic or rubber, cellulose fibers or a polymer base.
Because there are so many synthetic slate options available, professional Middlesex County roofers can
assist in determining if this roofing material is right for the home and for the budget.

One major advantage to installing synthetic slate on roof is that this material is durable and
safe.Synthetic slate, on the other hand, is not affected by temperature changes. Because of this, some
high-quality materials may even have lifetime warranty under certain installation conditions.Synthetic
slate is often considered eco-friendly because many types of synthetic slate are made from recycled
materials. Synthetic slate that is made from virgin materials can be reused once the roof has reached the
end of its life.

GREEN MIX CONCRETE - KARAGDAG

1. Lasts Longer

Green concrete gains strength faster and has a lower rate of shrinkage than concrete made only from
Portland Cement. Structures built using green concrete have a better chance of surviving a fire (it can
withstand temperatures of up to 2400 degrees on the Fahrenheit scale). It also has a greater resistance
to corrosion which is important with the effect pollution has had on the environment (acid rain greatly
reduces the longevity of traditional building materials).

2. Uses Industrial Waste

Instead of a 100 percent Portland cement mixture, green concrete uses anywhere from 25 to 100
percent fly ash. Fly ash is a byproduct of coal combustion and is gathered from the chimneys of
industrial plants (such as power plants) that use coal as a power source. There are copious amounts of
this industrial waste product.

3. Reduces Energy Consumption

If you use less Portland cement and more fly ash when mixing concrete, then you will use less energy.
The materials that are used in Portland cement require huge amounts of coal or natural gas to heat it up
to the appropriate temperature to turn them into Portland cement. Fly ash already exists as a byproduct
of another industrial process so you are not expending much more energy to use it to create green
concrete.

FIBER GLASS REINFORCED PLASTIC - CORDOVA

Corrosion Resistance

Perhaps the prime reason for using fiber-glass-reinforced plastics (FRP) is because of their inherent
corrosion resistance. In many cases, they are the only materials that will handle a given service
environment; and in other cases, their corrosion resistance is combined with their economy to make
them the most economical acceptable solution. Corrosion resistance of FRP is a function of both the
resin content and the specific resin used in the laminate. Generally speaking, the higher the resin
content, the more corrosion resistant the laminate.

Another very distinct advantage of FRP is its low weight-to-strength ratio. As a rule of thumb, for the
same strength, FRP will weigh approximately one seventh as much as steel, and half as much as
aluminum.
Lightweight properties are important when considering the cost and ease of installation, especially for
pipe and tanks. FRP’s inherent lightweight is an advantage when equipment must be mounted on
existing structures, such as scrubbers on mezzanines or rooftops, and for specialty applications such as
FRP tank trailers.

High Strength

While not as important for corrosion-resistant equipment, high strength does play a major role in the
design of FRP equipment for such applications as missiles, pultruded shapes, etc. For filament wound
pipe and duct, the high strength gives the lightweight features discussed earlier.

Flexibility

Too many people overlook the versatility of FRP. It is best for many applications because you can do
things with it that cannot be done economically with other materials. You can mold almost any
configuration, or piece of equipment, for which you can build a temporary or permanent mold. For
ductwork, for example, you can make all types of elbows, rectangular to circular transitions, Tee inlets,
and flanges all in a wide proliferation of round and rectangular sizes and shapes at minimal tooling cost.
It is also possible to use FRP to line existing structures

INSULATED CONCRETE FORMS - CALUMPANG

The use of Insulated Concrete Forms, or ICF, is changing the way homes and commercial buildings are
constructed and insulated, while contributing to a better environment. Insulated Concrete Form walls
act as a thermal barrier, making it possible for buildings and homes to retain heat more effectively. The
two layers of foam plus concrete in ICF walls give the building an R40-50 insulation value; this can
reduce a home’s heating costs up to 70 per cent a year. The same factors prevent heat and humidity
from getting inside and ensure the building remains comfortable during the summer.

Insulated Concrete Form walls are a better alternative to traditional wood-framed walls, as wood is
susceptible to moisture and mold, which can weaken the structure of the home. Sound-proofing
benefits

The thick, multi-layer nature of Nudura ICF also provides effective sound barriers. This building product
is now commonly used in hotels and in homes in noisy neighbourhoods, such as airport communities, to
block outside sounds.

SPIDER SILK - CUYNO

Humans have been making use of spider silk for thousands of years. Current research in spider silk
involves its potential use as an incredibly strong and versatile material. The interest in spider silk is
mainly due to a combination of its mechanical properties and the non-polluting way in which it is made.
If the production of spider silk ever becomes industrially viable, it could replace Kevlar and be used to
make a diverse range of items such as:Bulletproof vest

Bullet-proof clothing

Wear-resistant lightweight clothing

Ropes, nets, seat belts, parachutesKevlar sail

Rust-free panels on motor vehicles or boats

Biodegradable bottles

Bandages, surgical thread

Artificial tendons or ligaments, supports for weak blood vessels.

However the production of spider silk is not simple and there are inherent problems. Firstly spiders
cannot be farmed like silkworms since they are cannibals and will simply eat each other if in close
proximity. The silk produced is very fine so 400 spiders would be needed to produce only one square
yard of cloth. The silk also hardens when exposed to air which makes it difficult to work with.

LIQUID CONCRETE CRACK REPAIR - PANDAPATAN

Fixing concrete cracks and general concrete repair are essential for both the safety and aesthetics of
your structure. Concrete cracks can appear in a variety of environments. Loading bays, bridges,
walkways and roads, as well as home garages, patios and balconies.

The aim of your project should be to achieve at least one of the following:

Increase the strength of the cracked concrete

Prevent excess liquid infiltrating the concrete

Improve durability

Improve functional performance

Prevent any potential corrosion

Public safety
Make your concrete look good

However. Before diving headfirst into concrete crack repair, there are some essential facts that need to
be identified. Without the correct diagnosis of the problem, the solution could be ineffectual. We shall
look to cover these essentials one step at a time.

If your crack has caused structural damage, then you are going to require a flexible material and
comprehensive technique to combat this.

If the crack is non-structural, or an aesthetic/decorative issue if you will, it is still imperative to address
the issue before it worsens or spreads, even if this is just monitoring the situation to begin with. If you
are unsure? Then fix it!

Advantages of solar PV – in a nutshell

PV panels provide clean – green energy. During electricity generation with PV panels there is no harmful
greenhouse gas emissions thus solar PV is environmentally friendly.

Solar energy is energy supplied by nature – it is thus free and abundant!

Solar energy can be made available almost anywhere there is sunlight

Solar energy is especially appropriate for smart energy networks with distributed power generation –
DPG is indeed the next generation power network structure!

Photovoltaic panels, through photoelectric phenomenon, produce electricity in a direct electricity

generation way

Disadvantages of Solar PV – in a nutshell

As in all renewable energy sources, solar energy has intermittency issues; not shining at night but also
during daytime there may be cloudy or rainy weather.

Consequently, intermittency and unpredictability of solar energy makes solar energy panels less reliable
a solution.
For a continuous supply of electric power, especially for on-grid connections, Photovoltaic panels
require not only Inverters but also storage batteries; thus increasing the investment cost for PV panels
considerably

Though PV panels have no considerable maintenance or operating costs, they are fragile and can be
damaged relatively easily; additional insurance costs are therefore of ultimate importance to safeguard
a PV investment.
