The activities were really helpful I must say.

I learned a lot of things and I

am grateful for it.

Brainstorming is part of design thinking. You use it in the ideation phase.

It’s extremely popular for design teams because they can expand in all

directions. Brainstorming is a method design teams use to generate ideas to

solve clearly defined design problems. In controlled conditions and a free-

thinking environment, teams approach a problem by such means as “How Might

We” questions. They produce a vast array of ideas and draw links between them

to find potential solutions. (Osborn, 2012). This is essential because we are able

to think freely without judgments. Thus, more ideas come inside our heads. We

get to hear what others’ ideas are which makes brainstorming essential. In this

way people get to give and take point of views.

Apart from this, we also learned about academic writing. I really love

writing, thus I found the activity enjoyable. Routledge (2008) explained that

Academic writing refers to a style of expression that researchers use to define

the intellectual boundaries of their disciplines and specific areas of expertise.

This is most important in terms of formal wring, because we will learn to observe

the correct procedure in writing including the dos and don’ts, which is beneficial

for our thesis writing. Writers should write objectively and inclusively to receive

respect and trust from readers, as well as to avoid alienating readers. To be

objective means to write with curiosity, rather than having a preset opinion, and

to engage with research, rather than presenting a personal preference

Further, we have also discussed about paraphrasing. In order for a reader

to understand the impact of a direct quotation or paraphrased source material,

you should work to integrate your evidence into your paragraph's overall

discussion. A strong way to integrate source material is to use transitions. As you

integrate sources, you will also often begin analyzing the evidence (Johnson,

2012). This is essential for us because this will help is during our manuscript

writing.

Afterward, we moved on to discussing about plagiarism. I must say that it

is a form of stealing; one of the mischiefs we sure would not like to pass onto the

next generation. I had really found the topic appealing because I get to know

more about it. Plagiarism means stealing intellectual property or intellectual

fraud. When you use parts of writing or artwork without crediting the original

writer or artist, then plagiarized work is considered. The meaning of plagiarism

has changed gradually with time (https://copyleaks.com/plagiarism-checker/what-

is-plagiarism).

Moreover, our final topic was about literature review. This is one of the

most essential topics I believe, because review of related literature is crucial in

making research. "In writing the literature review, the purpose is to convey to the

reader what knowledge and ideas have been established on a topic, and what

their strengths and weaknesses are. The literature review must be defined by a

guiding concept (eg. your research objective, the problem or issue you are

discussing, or your argumentative thesis). It is not just a descriptive list of the

material available, or a set of summaries (http://www.writing.utoronto.ca/advice/

specific-types-of-writing/literature-review).
