All About Me Essay
GOAL: Compose an essay about yourself using your best writing sample. Your
paper will be (5) paragraphs in length with at least five (5) sentences in each
paragraph. You must turn in some sort of brainstorming, a rough draft (with
editing marks and corrections) and a final copy. Your final copy must be written
in pen and must skip lines. Write legibly; IF I CAN’T READ IT, I CAN’T GRADE
IT.

TO KEEP YOU ORGANIZED, HERE IS A CHECKLIST OF WHAT YOU NEED

TO HAVE. ONCE YOU HAVE COMPLETED A STEP, MARK IT OFF AND GO
TO THE NEXT ITEM.

1. BRAINSTORMING (On a piece of paper, collect your thoughts.)

2. ROUGH DRAFT (This is a sloppy copy of your essay.)
3. REVISE/EDIT (Once your rough draft is finished, look it over and make
corrections in spelling, capitalization, punctuation, etc.; also make
changes that enhance your writing.)
4. FINAL COPY (Once you have finished steps 1-3, re-write your finished
draft. This should be done in pen and must skip lines.)

EVALUATION: This essay will be worth 50 points. It will not be judged for
grammar and spelling, just content. I want to see how well you write so I know
what we need to work on. As long as you meet all of the requirements listed
above, you will receive all 50 points possible. Brainstorming and rough draft
(with editing) are worth 10 points each, and the final copy is worth 30 points.
