The Treaty of Versailles (1919) was a peace treaty signed by the European powers that

officially ended the First World War, after six months of negotiation, in the city of Paris. The
Treaty of Versailles was signed as a continuation of the armistice of November 1918, at
Compiègne, which had ended the fighting. The main point of the Treaty of Versailles was that
Germany would accept all the responsibilities for causing the Great War (thus it was known to
the First World War before the Second World War) and on the terms of articles 231-247, that
fixed indemnification of war for the winning powers "The Triple entene".

The Treaty of Versailles (French: Traité de Versailles) was the most important of

the peace treaties that brought World War I to an end. The Treaty ended the state of
war between Germany and the Allied Powers. It was signed on 28 June 1919
in Versailles, exactly five years after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand.
the direct cause of the First World War. Although the armistice was signed months
before (November 11, 1918) to end hostilities on the battlefield, it took six months of
negotiations at the Paris Peace Conference to conclude the peace treaty. The Treaty of
Versailles came into force on January 10, 1920.

The result of these competing and sometimes conflicting goals among the victors was a
compromise that left no one content: Germany was neither pacified nor conciliated, nor was
it permanently weakened. The problems that arose from the treaty would lead to
the Locarno Treaties, which improved relations between Germany and the other European
powers, and the re-negotiation of the reparation system resulting in the Dawes Plan,
the Young Plan, and the indefinite postponement of reparations at the Lausanne
Conference of 1932.
Although it is often referred to as the &Versailles Conference&, only the actual signing of
the treaty took place at the historic palace. Most of the negotiations were in Paris, with the
&Big Four& meetings taking place generally at the Quai d'Orsa

Alemania indefensa, postrada y sangrante.
231-248, desarmarse, hacer concesiones territoriales
Ninety years ago the representatives of the victorious imperialist powers met in Paris to determine the fate
of the whole world. The Treaty of Versailles formally ended with the state of war between Germany and
the Allied powers (also known as the Entente). It took six months of dispute at the Paris Peace
Conference to conclude the peace treaty. It was finally signed on June 28, 1919, exactly five years after
the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand.
The Treaty of Versailles was one of the most scandalous and aggressive treatises in history. It was a
blatant act of looting perpetrated by a gang of thieves against a helpless, prostrate and bleeding Germany.
Among its numerous clauses Germany and its allies were required to accept all responsibility for war and,
under the terms of articles 231-248, to disarm, make substantial territorial concessions, and pay for the
reparations of the Entente powers.
The events of Versailles are very illustrative because they reveal the inner workings of imperialist
diplomacy, the stark reality of political power and the material interests behind the flowery phrases about
Freedom, Humanitarianism, Pacifism and Democracy. In the secret of the negotiating room, the leaders of
the &civilized world& haggle as traders in a medieval market, this is how Europe and the whole world
are divided into spheres of interest. This prepared the basis for subsequent conflicts that led directly to
World War II.
