Functions/ Responsibilities of a Legal Assistant

 Collect, examine, and organize other legal documents for attorney review and
case preparation

 Draft and proofread correspondence and legal documents, such as pleadings and
contracts

 Research regulations, laws, and legal articles to assist with the preparation of
reports, case files, and legal advice

 Manage, organize, and maintain documents in paper or electronic filing systems

 Supports case preparation by preparing case summaries and materials for


mediation conferences

 Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading


professional publications

 Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new


and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments

 Perform any and all other functions and responsibilities as required by the Local
Chief Executive
