Functions/ Responsibilities of a Legal Assistant
Collect, examine, and organize other legal documents for attorney review and
case preparation
Draft and proofread correspondence and legal documents, such as pleadings and
contracts
Research regulations, laws, and legal articles to assist with the preparation of
reports, case files, and legal advice
Manage, organize, and maintain documents in paper or electronic filing systems
Supports case preparation by preparing case summaries and materials for
mediation conferences
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading
professional publications
Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new
and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
Perform any and all other functions and responsibilities as required by the Local
Chief Executive
