1.) How did you become interested in this field?


-My father always said that he thought Id be a good lawyer/attorney because Im good at
arguing. Also I wouldnt mind being on the other side of the justice system for once.
2.) Describe the typical work day in the career.
-Lawyers advise and represent individuals, businesses and government agencies on legal
issues and disputes.
3.) What educational requirements are needed for this career? Be specific.
-Entry level is a doctoral or professional degree. All lawyers must have a law degree and
must also typically pass a states written bar examination
4.) What skills are needed? Explain.
-The five top skills needed for the occupation is Communication, Listening, Writing,
Negotiation and Time Management. Communication would be used to communicate to the judge
and who you are representing. Listening would be used to understand the legal situation. Writing
would be used to write up reports and letters to many people. Negotiation would be used to come
to an agreement with the judge and defendant, if proven guilty or innocent. Time management
would be good to have because the courts only have so much time.
5.) What is the future job outlook?
-The job outlook is average. There is also more students graduating then there are jobs,
which isnt very good.
6.) List and explain three related occupations to this occupation
A Legal Secretary college degrees are good to have but not needed. A good work ethic with
attention to accuracy is important. Court Clerk or bailiff take responsibility and custody of
physical evidence introduced at trial, and help in the general administration of the trial. A legal
assistant qualified by education, training or work experience who is employed by a lawyer or law
office and who performs specifically delegated substantive legal work for which a lawyer is
responsible.

Lawyers earned a median salary of $114,300 in 2013,

This job choice for me is based on the amount of money and the satisfaction. Id enjoy getting a
decent pay and also helping people with their legal issues.
