Marcus

Mr Johnson Sim was my favourite teacher. He taught me science and is also my form teacher. Mr
Sim was how we addressed him. My first impression of Mr Sim was a memorable one. When I
first met him, During my first day of school, I was surprised at how he organised all the prefects to
go around the school to help the new secondary one students to get around the place.

I was in St Gabriels’ Secondary School. He was the teacher-in-charge of my class. He is a local

teacher who is very respectful to everyone. When we first met him, he would greet us and check
with each of us individually how we were and our names. He did not treat us like our teachers in
Primary school were we were treated like we are forced to listen to them, but in secondary school,
they treat us as equals and also treat us with respect.

There was once that when he made a mistake, he bowed and apologised to everyone. Nobody
would do that. This was my first time witnessing a teacher who was so sincere and humble with
his mistakes. When he did, so I felt like that he was a very sincere person who does not have any
intention to use his authority to control us. but trust. I found him to be very sincere and very kind.

During class, when he is teaching us science, he would always try to keep his class engaging and
fun. He would try to joke around with us and we would always laugh together with him. He has
also tries his very best to give a reasonable amount of work giving with a reasonable due date. If
we did do not know how to solve a question, he, was very generous with his time would always
stay back and go through it with us. There was once that my classmate did not know the solution
a question so my teacher Mr Sim facetimed (Video Call, called him on his phone) with him so the
that he could clarify with him.

I have since found Mr Sim is to be very kind, sincere and caring of his students. He also tries his
best to make learning easy and fun for us.
