COURSE INFORMATION

1. Course Number : CRI 313


2. Course Name : Institutional Corrections
3. Course Description : The course covers an examination of the history, philosophy and objectives of
imprisonment and the development of prisons. A study of institutional agencies
in the Philippines, to include BJMP which oversees city and municipal jails;
provincial jails and the Bureau of Corrections and their institutions in terms of
their structures, management, standards, programs and services. A critical
analysis of the laws creating these agencies to determine areas of possible
improvement.

6. Credit : 3.0 units

Within Five years after graduation, the CCJE graduates are expected to:

punishment of criminal behavior and how criminal justice agencies function and respond to
crime, criminals and victims.
B. Practice knowledge and skills in crime prevention, law enforcement, scientific crime detection,
correctional administration, and public safety.
C. Manifest the values of leadership, integrity, accountability, and responsibility while serving their
fellowmen, community and country.

b. A validated student identification card must always by worn be all students while attending classes.
c. Cheating is strictly prohibited. Any form of dishonesty shall be dealt with accordingly. Honesty is
called for at all times.
d. Valid examination permits are necessary in taking the examinations as scheduled. CELLULAR
PHONES or any ELECTRONIC GADGETS and PRESCRIBED PRC CALCULATORS are NOT allowed during
EXAMINATIONS.
e. Base-15 grading policy should be observed. Students who obtained failing scores in major exams are
recommended to attend the tutorial class.
