Tracing: Each package will be tagged with digital markers giving each item a traceable unique id.

At
every stage, from production, distribution, reverse logistics involved with recycling, the journey of
the item will be mapped to the id together with the material and other product related details. In
order to maintain the integrity of data we propose the implantation of blockchain framework. The
collected data can be leveraged to derive valuable insights required for micro-planning of recycling
approaches on the basis of product category as well as region.

Scheduling: The waste collection phase involves two fundamental elements viz. cloud computing
and the milk run concept (a logistic transport model that allows decentralization of waste collection
by region and material category). The collection centers (includes housing co-operatives,
independent organization etc.) using an app can feed in the type and volume of waste in their
center. Based on this data a collection plan will be devised that will take into consideration the truck
size, route and addition equipment required to optimize the collection process. On the basis of the
collected data additional incentive based plans can be developed for the waste collection agents.

Segregation: The data on the tags will be used by controlling algorithms of conveyor robots that
move cargo through the yard or that work with the automatic machinery that performs grade-wise
segregation of packaging.

Compliance Automation: The data collected in the entire process will be used as an evidence to
provide confidence to stakeholders (viz. customers, government organizations, certification
authorities etc.) about the sustainability of the process. It can also be used as evidence of
compliance and for benchmarking the activities.
