REFLECTION PAPER

OCTOBER 2, 2020

My first experience in paralegal training was in the San Juan City jail. The experience was jarring

to say the least. But it was heart warming as well. The reason why it was so jarring is that I was not ready

for the types of questions that they asked. It truly took me by surprise because the level of questioning

they asked, parang recit!! It was really hard to remember all the procedural aspects of modes of release

and also ask questions with regard to evidence.

It was really nice also to feel like that they enjoyed our company and time. I really found it to be

a good experience for myself, to remember that these PDL have their own stories to tell. They are not

just numbers or statistics but they are people too with real stories and real lives which are sometimes

really overlooked by our people and the government. This class really teaches me to be more

compassionate with our fellow countrymen even if they are accused of some heinous crimes.
