Master Budget Reflection

Many people view budgeting on a more personal and individual basis while budgeting is much

more than that, especially at a business level. While working on the master budget project, it was

evident how important detailed budget should be in order to obtain accurate information for a business.

Overall, I feel like this was the purpose for this project. It helps show all the steps needed to complete

an accurate mast budget. It really helped me learn the why behind budgeting and the need to have so

many “steps.”

In order to complete the assignment, skills in Microsoft Excel were very necessary. I have taken

a few classes regarding excel and I found that my skills in the program were very beneficial. The need to

write formulas and connect cells was essential. I also felt that logical math skills were necessary in order

to understand how one month connects to the next and so on. Overall, Excel was the most essential skill

required. I did not feel like my Excel skills improved much rom doing this assignment but it was good

practice.

Budgeting can be tricky and there were many parts of the assignment that were confusing. The

step by step videos saved me and helped me understand and learn clearer each step of budgeting. It

was very beneficial to have to work through each step because budgeting is very relevant to my major. I

am majoring in Business Management with hopes to have a career in Healthcare Administration. A ton

of Administration in general and especially in healthcare is all focused on budgeting.

Overall, I felt like this assignment was very applicable to my major, my career, and this class. It

challenged me to work through a “real life” scenario that I will most likely face in my future. It wasn’t

too hard but it wasn’t too easy.
