The smart alcohol detection
and safety system for vehicles
prototype has been built and
test runs have been carried
out for the analysis of the
system and the evaluations for
the prototype have been
carried out with its sensor,
controllers and the
communication modules
compared and evaluated.
The purpose of this project is
to develop vehicle accident
prevention by method of
alcohol detector in an effort to
reduce traffic accident cases
based on driving under the
influence alcohol. This project
is developed by integrating the
alcohol sensor with the
microcontroller 16F877A. The
alcohol sensor used in this
project is MQ-2 which to
detect the alcohol content in
human breath. An ignition
system which will produce
spark plugs is build up as a
prototype to act like the
ignition starter over the
vehicle’s engine. The ignition
system will operate based on
the level of blood alcohol
content (BAC) from human
breaths detected by alcohol
sensor
An intelligent system which
has been embedded in the
helmet detects the signal by IR
sensor from the earlobe region
and an alcohol sensor will be
transmitted to the vehicle
control circuit. It will not turn
on the vehicle, when the user
is without helmet or in
drunken condition. The system
containing the GPS receiver
will provide the geometric
coordinates to the control
unit. Based on this coordinates
the user cannot drive the
vehicle into no entry or no
parking areas. If he enters into
the restricted area, buzzer will
get activated and vehicle
speed also gets controlled.
