Introduction:

Good morning everyone, my name is Prakhar, and I am accompanied by Prabal to present our idea for the final year project, We've been
working on for the past few weeks.
It is an IoT based pesticide residue detection and quality monitoring system concerning the life sciences and health care industry. Before
we begin, I'd like to request you to withhold your questions till the end of our presentation.
Content:
In the presentation, we will be covering, the business problem statement, issues that we gathered from the problem statement, the
proposed solution, the related tech stack along with the process of our device. Then we will compare the existing technology with our
proposed solution, followed by impacts that we intend to make from this device.
Now without any further ado, I'd like to describe our problem statement to you.
Problem statement:
It is of common knowledge that the use of chemical pesticides has increased over the last few years to increase the yield and to meet the
demands of an increasing population.
Excessive use of pesticides at times can leave residues which are unsafe for human consumption.
A common man may find it difficult to differentiate between a product that has been subjected to chemical abuse, from the one grown
organically.
I hope that our problem statement has given you a glimpse into the issues we are about to highlight.
Issues:
The population of the earth is soaring day by day, but the resources are limited. To fulfil the need for food, the farmers continuously
strive to increase crops' production by chemical fertilizers and pesticides because they are cheaper when compared to the natural ones.
Chemical pesticides may lead to an increase in production but, in turn, degrade the quality of food. Many people might be oblivious to
the fact that a continued consumption of contaminated fruits and vegetables can lead to bioaccumulation which can cause serious health
issues like cancer, stroke, and heart problems.
Also, there is no budget-friendly solution available in the market that enables the user to monitor the environment for storing fruits and
vegetables and to maintain their freshness naturally.
Solution:
This is where our solution steps in.
A Hand-held, compact and ergonomic device is used to detect contamination by pesticides with the help of data collected in real-time.
This will help the user to choose a fruit or vegetable with the least amount of contamination without getting deceived by its outer
appearance.
It will also help them to determine the freshness of the product along with the ability to monitor the storage environment.
TECH STACK:
Now, let's talk about the feasibility of our proposed solution or the method.
On the hardware front, we will be using infrared sensors that are NIR sensor and Red LED, then Mq3, which is an odour sensor and
DHT11, for detecting temperature and humidity values.
Next, the software that'll interpret the reading from these sensors will be built on Arduino ide, which is a perfect platform for
programming IoT devices.
For storing the data collected, we can either make use of free platforms like adafruit and things speak, or we could use paid services like
IBM cloud and AWS for their additional functionality. Right now, we are considering IBM cloud for the same.
For the result part, we will be giving various platforms to view the result for example either display the result with the help of an app or a
web-based interface or displaying on LCD Display and also in both the case you can get the required data on your email also that I will
be discussing in the upcoming slide.
Now I’d like to hand over this presentation to Prabal to talk about the flow of our project
