MFR 11
Multi Function Relay
Protection

APPLICATIONS DESCRIPTION

The MFR 1 Series is a family of industrial Features (all versions)

grade protective relays that offer multiple · True RMS voltage · True RMS sensing
protective features in a single package. · Configurable trip/control set points
· Configurable delays for each alarm · Synch-check
Using a digital processor to measure true · Two-line LC display · Programmable relay
RMS values enables a high degree of
measuring accuracy regardless of harmonics, MFR 11/MP outputs
transients or disturbing pulses. · 24 Vdc power supply
· Discrete inputs for
· 3 configurable relays
The MFR 11 model is a generator or mains · Over-/undervoltage monit. (59/27)
enabling or remote
protection unit packaged into one compact · Over-/underfrequency monit. (81O/U) acknowledgment
device. Typical applications are generators · Voltage asymmetry monitoring (47)
and switchgear equipment that require · PC and front panel
independent protection architecture. Different MFR 11/NU configurable
packages offer additional functionality. Same features as MFR 11/MP, plus:
· Wide-range power supply (no 24 Vdc)
· Microprocessor
The MFR 11/MP is for mains protection use (90 to 265 Vac/dc) technology for
with over-/undervoltage, -frequency and accurate, repeatable
voltage asymmetry with 24 Vdc power supply MFR 11/VDEW and reliable
while the MFR 11/NU has the same Same features as MFR 11/MP, plus:
operation
functions, but utilizes a wide-range power · Vector/phase shift monitoring (78)
supply. · Programmable
MFR 11/G59
The MFR 11/VDEW adds phase/vector jump Same features as MFR 11/MP, plus: threshold setpoints
monitoring to the MP package. The · 8 configurable relays with individual time
MFR 11/G59 package adds df/dt (ROCOF) · Vector/phase shift monitoring (78) delays
protection. The MFR 11/G59N has the same · df/dt ROCOF monitoring (81RL)
features as the G59 package, but utilizes the · CE marked
wide-range power supply. MFR 11/G59N
Same features as MFR 11/G59, plus:
· UL/cUL Listed
The MFR 11/SC is used for synch-check and · Wide-range power supply (no 24 Vdc) · GL Approval
zero voltage detection to check whether two (90 to 265 Vac/dc)
systems are synchronous or de-energized.
MFR 11/SC
The compact size and multiple functions of Same features as MFR 11/MP, plus:
the MFR 11 help to simplify switchgear · 2 configurable relays
design. The digital display offers a user- · Synch-check (fixed to relay 3) (25)
friendly interface to setup the unit as well as · Zero voltage monitoring: dead bus start
monitor the operation and display any alarms. functionality (close CB to dead busbar)

Synchronizing voltage L1
The synchronizing voltage must be connected three-
phase if the measuring voltage is connected three-
phase (N not connected). If the measuring voltage is
connected four-phase (L1-L2-L3-N), the synchronizing
voltage may be connected two-phase (L1-L2). L3 is
connected only for compensation and is not measured.
