WE USE THE NARRATIVE TENSES...


To talk about the past. For example, we can use them to
describe past events or to tell an story, including personal
anecdotes

PAST PERFECT (CONTEXT)


We use the past perfect to describe
things that happened before the main
events in the story or before the time of
the story. Eg.
-I had never been to Africa

PAST CONTINUOUS
(BACKGROUND)
IWe use the past continuous to describe
background events and situations. We also
use the past continuous to contrast longer
actions with shorter ones. Eg.
-We were walking in the park while the
children were playing

SIMPLE PAST
(MAIN EVENTS)
IWe use the simpe past to describe the main
events in a narrative. We use to talk about
consecutive actions in the past. Eg.
-She picked up the phone and called an
ambulance
