India, US Sign Major Defence Pact BECA, Days Before Presidential Polls
● The long-awaited Basic Exchange and Cooperation Agreement or BECA, which gives India access to classified
geo-spatial data as well as critical information having significant military applications from the US, was signed .
● Minister S Jaishankar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held the third edition of the 2+2 talks with US Secretary of
State Mike Pompeo and Defence Secretary Mark Esper, in New Delhi
● BECA, which is the fourth and final "foundational" understanding the US has with India, will allow India to gain
access to precision data and topographical images - on a real time basis - from United States military satellites.

Foundation stone laid for aircraft museum in Kakinada


● The foundation stone for the aircraft museum being developed by the Godavari Urban Development Authority
(GUDA), exhibiting the decommissioned Indian Navy’s aircraft, TU-142 M, was laid at the Kakinada beach park in

● The Pentagon has approved India’s request to buy $90 million worth of equipment, spare parts and logistical support

Goa Shipyard begins production of stealth frigates for Navy, delivery likely by 2026
● Goa Shipyard Ltd has commenced production of the two guided missile frigates, which are being built in
collaboration with Russia’s Yantar Shipyard for the Indian Navy.
● GSL expects to deliver the first ship to the Navy by 2026.
